Is your woman lazy or does she have your back?

We get a lot of snow in the New England area. When we were kids and they called off school, we were always sent outdoors to shovel. It's how we grew up and I've been shoveling ever since.

Anyhoo, we got a good size storm yesterday. It was the real heavy/wet snow and most snow blowers don't work well in this type of stuff. Spent a couple hours and got it done.
About 3 hours later my new neighbor struggled to get his car in his driveway. The poor guy just got off a 12 hr shift and had to shovel his 5 car driveway because his snow blower wasn't working in this stuff. I threw on my coat, gloves and went walking over with my shovel. His wife who is a SAHM sat in her cozy house the entire time and couldn't be bothered to come out and help.

We got it done and I was happy to help.

Please tell me that all young women aren't this lazy smh...

My wife doesn't want to help and also doesn't want to watch the kids while I do it.

Extrapolate your own answer.

Good for you for helping out. At my house, I do most of the shoveling on the weekends, but she probably does it more often than me during the week. Sometimes we do it together, just depends on who's free.

Not young though. Well I guess young is relative. She turns 40 tomorrow.

She has more than my back - she's my soul mate. We're both happy to help, as well.

SAHM have it good - that poor guy, damn.

Neighbors wife sounds like a lazy bum, lol. Seeing you out there should’ve triggered at least an offer of help.

Well not young so not sure if it matters, but I was the snow clearing crew at my house. We didn't have a snowblower, but sometimes a neighbor with a snowblower would make a pass around the sidewalk when we really got dumped on.

Well aware about heavy we snow vs. regular or even light and fluffy snow.

I've shoveled tons of snow in my life. When I was married my ex would do most of it but I'd help if needed or if he wasn't home. Never had a snowblower. We had some bad snow storms after my divorce when I was still in my house and had a torn rotator cuff. It always seemed to be when my teen son was at his dads. Just my luck. lol

Thankfully the neighborhood I live in pays a company to come do all the shoveling/plowing. They even do around the cars in the parking lots. It's great!

Depends. As a kid, even a little kid, me and my dad always went out and did it. He'd snowblow and I'd shovel. All the dads and their boys came out, and we all helped each other out. It's completely different nowadays. But my mom did usually always help and did the walk ways and back deck. My mom is old school swedish from a carpenter/architect family so she is very strong for a woman and a hard worker.

I think a lot of women now were just born into this princess mindset and won't help their husband if he needs it. Even if the guy can do it himself, just coming out and helping shovel the sidewalk or porch/walkways would be very supportive.

Good on you for helping though. srs. People rarely help each other anymore.

That's why you get a decent 2-stage snowblower that can actually handle the job. Expect to drop $1,000+ on one. Those 1-stages and lower end 2-stage snowblowers are meant for people with super small driveways, like rentcels with mini areas to shovel and snowblow, and people with trailer park sized home driveways. They aren't made for people trying to clear huge assss driveways.

The day I see a woman properly appreciate the fact that her man just does all the shoveling/yardwork for her is the day hell freezes over lol

good on you OP for helping. Grew up in the northeast. Neighbors would snowblow our driveway if we hadn't gotten to it yet. It's just what you do.

My parents always did it together and my wife would 100% help in a situation like that. She'd be more likely to tell me to go inside and rest and either do it herself. An even more probably scenario is I'd get home off a long shift and it would be done in the first place. There's no excuse for one partner to not do so if they're sitting in the house not engaged in any mindful task.

Good on you for helping, OP. I view shovelling as decent cardio so I almost welcome it.

It's physically impossible to shovel our driveway, as it's over 1/4 mile long. We paid the farm next door to clear it with a tractor.

The only thing I'm not the best at is car maintenance. I know a little bit to be dangerous but it's the one thing I don't like to do. I can easily do everything else and I do.
