i would say yes. depression looks at everything within one's self and one's circumstances. religion/God lets you look outward towards everyone else and towards God

I don't suffer depression but I go to church and it makes me feel better about a lot of things

Born and raised in Idaho, went to college in the Bible Belt. I would say half to three-quarters of the attendees at churches don't believe a word of it. It's a social club.

An engineer brah I know ran a Bible study at his church, went on a mission, married a minister, and he's a total atheist.

I think so. It helps with believing in God, praying and also the social activities associated with a church. I wish I had time for it now but I have other responsibilities that are serving God but in a different way.

If the only thing making someone depressed is a lack of social interaction then sure, though that sounds more like regular loneliness and not depression.
