My parents are book smart, highly educated, and accomplished. They're actually intelligent, not just needs who know how to cram for exams.

They've been getting ripped off their whole lives cus they have absolutely no street smarts. Ball park figure would be half a million dollars over 30 years.

Better to be smart.

Street smart is all too often cope for idiots e.g. "he's got book smarts but I got street smarts". Either way you either have fluid intelligence etc or you don't. Most people for the most part massively overestimate their intelligence, especially in relation to others, and this overestimate is exponentially larger and smaller depending on if you are stupid or smart respectively.

Street smart is more useful to me personally. I spend way more time on the roads driving than I do in book stores and libraries.

Depends how sheltered you are.

If safety isn't an issue then being booksmart is the way to go. This is applicable to like 2% of the population who grew up on daddys money in an area where safety isn't an issue. However, this person will have to settle for a 6/10 wife AT BEST because that upbringing will never encourage them to take the chances to land a good looking wife. They will also be average at everything else except the book subject they decide to focus on.

For all others, street smart is the way to go.
