Old war story. Pearl Harbor and the USS West Virginia. 3 soldiers, 16 days sunk
https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-...en-battleship/
“When salvage crews raised the battleship West Virginia six months after the Pearl Harbor attacks, they found the bodies of three sailors huddled in an airtight storeroom — and a calendar on which 16 days had been crossed off in red pencil.”
Over two weeks in a tomb. It must’ve been hell. Worth a good novel or a movie imo.

Brutal.
My grandpa helped restore the ships that were bombed at Pearl Harbor. Mom was born in Hawaii while he was working there.

They didn't discover them that moment, they knew the whole time they were in there but had no way of getting to them. I'm sure a lot of those people who had to witness hearing their tapping and not being able to do anything about it had some serious mental wounds. The USS Arizona still has most of it's crew because it was blown up so bad that there really isn't any way to get them that is practical. I think the USS Oklahoma also had quite a few who were trapped and died a pretty agonizing death.
No way in hell will the government allow that movie to be produced at a time when the military is having a serious under-recruitment and retention issue. They will produce more Top Gun type movies because combat is glorious (said no combat vet ever)

They knew about them. They could hear them tapping on the hull in morse code. For days.
I read one account that said at least a couple guys trying to come up with a rescue plan got mega ultra bad PTSD and never recovered.

If they made a movie about it today, 2 would be lovers and at least 1 would be black.
