SI joint pain?

So for the last 6 months, I have been having this dull pain through the bottom of my back and my right azzcheek. It feels like a burn in my right outer hip too.

There are better days with it and worse days seemingly at random. On probably 80% of the days, I walk with a limp. 50% I can't run. 20% I can't swing a golf club.

Walking up stairs on non-running days is pretty much torture. I fukking drag my right leg up them. Standing up after sitting down for a while always sucks too.

WebMD'ing it, it sounds like it is SI joint pain. Anti-inflammatorys help with it for golf and kickball maxxing. Stretching doesn't help. Time has not helped at all.

I'm turning to BrahMD now. Have any of you guys dealt with this and been able to treat it?

Are you sure you don't have a disc issue? Radiating pain is usually easier to fix than localized low back pain but will require either injections or surgery

An SI injection will fix you right up.

As long as you continue to have the inflammation deep in the SI joint, you’ll continue to have issues. The steroids, injected deep into the joint, kill that inflammation, and allow the joint to heal. The relief is almost immediate.

Yes, i have had many bouts of similar pain and limited mobility where stretching and time didn't so much. Locked up, kinked up back, pain through glutes down into my knees. Inability to get out of bed, stand up, walk, run, squat, put socks on.

What I found works is you have to keep finding ways to move your body. Laying around and waiting for it to get better seems to do nothing.

I have pretty serious muscular imbalance from one side to the other. My shoulders don't move the same way. It trickles down and messes up my hips which seriously fukks up my back. I have had 1 - 3 bouts of crippling back pain every year for years and years and but this past year i seem to making good progress. Haven't "thrown out" my back or had any crippling cramping or pain all year.

Static stretching alone wont do much. You need to get moving, warm up the body, loosen up everything, then light stretching, foam rolling, and find a way to engage some muscles and do a little resistance training. Not necessarily for your low back but. Its a little victories kind of thing. You want to start with a morning routine. Some moving and foam rolling. Over time you'll figure out what works and what doesn't. Keep track of your level of stiffness and pain in the morning and throughout the day.

Generally when you have an injury what you want to do is start looking at the next closest joints/bodyparts and try to work on loosening and improving mobility and strength in them. Often its imbalance, tightness, weakness somewhere that has downstream affects on other parts of your body.

So what I did is start targeting the hamstrings, glutes and hips more. If you back is fukked and you can't do anything, lay down and use a wall or yoga strap to stretch you hamstrings. You can literally lay down with your legs up on the wall for 5 minutes and really loosen your hamstrings. Use a foam roller or lacross ball on your hips and glutes. You'd be surprised. Sometimes you can go from hardly any mobility and lots of pain to no pain and decent mobility in 20 minutes. Heat will help but loosen up the muscles around the back. Hips, glutes, hamstrings, quads, lats, pecs, traps.

Another thing I did was clean up my diet. Diet can do a lot of harm and put a lot of stress on the body that you cant quote see or tell right away. You may be able to drastically cut down inflammation in the body with a good balanced whole food diet.

A firm mattress may help also.

You could try using arnica gel in the morning paired with movement and mobility work. Ibuprofen is a good anti-inflammatory but not a long term solution by any means. Tumeric is allegedly a good anti inflammatory but ive taken it on and off for years and haven't noticed much. What made the most difference was diet, and figuring out how to move to relieve tightness and stiffness. Then little by little finding ways to challenge myself physically still. Time off is the absolute worst. I try to do something everyday. I will run or lift and if I cant I atleast do some active recovery, go for a long walk, do a warm up and stretch and foam roll. Avoid spending too much time laying in bed or sitting down.

You mind is super powerful. Don't listen to doctors who tell you your chit is fukked and won't go back to normal. You absolutely can heal or greatly improve what you are experiencing right now.

To be honest, I couldn't rule a disc out.

It doesn't seem to meet the symptoms. Exercise doesn't really help or loosen it up at all.

if youre lifting you'll need to lower the weights drastically an do some progressive loading over months. It will work itself out. Next time you get sore like this you'll understand what role persistent stress has on your joints.

source: had SI joint pain for years then simply started with the bar on deadlifts for 5x5, three times a week until I hit 4 plates. Saw the entire spectrum of pains that come along with it. Backing off weight 10% when weird pains occurred fixed everything eventually. Rest makes it worse, likely because bloodflow is critical.

Lol, I don't lift. Need to lift though.

If I had to guess, it is from golfmaxxing. Either hitting too many fat shots on a rubber mat covering concrete, and that shock fukked my joints, or just trying to follow through further than my flexibility allows. At the end of a golf swing, you want to turn left while kinda pushing off with your right foot... that is exactly where the pain is at.

Or it could be sitting in a chair for hours a day and not doing chit. I don't really know a root cause, but I am not that active.

Typically most pain management clinics will have a doc that specializes in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. They will be the one that does the SI injections. It’s a very common thing.

Health's worth a fortune. And surely you've got some insurance with your stemcel career that you stomach a couple appointments easily enough at least, right?

Would think that'd get you towards a solution so much faster. Living with chronic back pain sounds no bueno.

I have had this for a long time, like a few years .

I was never a fan of stretching as that seemed to bother it but recently I started stretching it multiple times a day and it got better in a few weeks.

I lay on my back and put my foot on the coffee table or something about couch hight. Cross the one leg over the elevated one at the knee until you feel a butt stretch. Just gently do this three times each side every two hours or so for about 30 seconds or so. Not painful stretching like forcing it but just mild until you feel tension. Do both sides. for three sets each side.

thats it. Dont go into some elaborate thing, just this is all I do. Obviously dont do squats or deads or stuff that requires bending down and over working the area.

I will sit on an ice pack and take tylenol too but I only needed it for like 3 days.

After a few days of this I noticed it was getting better. Been at it a few weeks now and it is much better. I can tell that if i stretch it too ofetn I will sort of maike it sore when it wasnt before so I know that its time to back off a little bit.

Worst case, it still hurts but its worth a try , its cheap, easy and only take a few minutes.

Worked fantastic for me and its been hurting for over a year.

Can't speak to the specific injury myself, but have you looked into physio-pedia's entry though? I've been finding this site to be pretty helpful with diagnosing, understanding, and treating my various ailments.

There is a "differential diagnosis" section at the bottom that might be especially helpful if you're still not 100% on the SI joint pain diagnosis. Other points of interest include testing practices and exercise recommendations (though stretching guidelines seem a bit scant).

dont self diagnose yourself, you need to go Dr and get scans to see whats up.

Dont try exercises from online as you can do more harm to your back.
