IMO Sean Connery. He had a good balance of physical strength and size (6'2" former bodybuilder) rugged Scottish charm, alpha swagger, dress sense and style.

Pierce Brosnan for me. I didn't like Craig or Lazenby. Moore is hit or miss, but he was in the classics. Connery is great, but idk, I like Brosnan edges him out. It could be because of Goldeneye though.

Brosnan > Connery > Dalton > Moore > Craig = Lazenby

Was thinking about this before. As a kid I enjoyed Roger Moore's films the most, probably due to the humour. Everyone says Sean Connery was the best but fk it I liked Roger Moore. (Special mention to JW Pepper)

Daniel Craig was gifted by particularly good story lines and production values. These days we're better at making films, especially action and SFX. But Daniel Craig was a good Bond.

Dalton had emotional, acting range and he actually looked dangerous.

Pierce had looks and swagger, but he looks like someone a teenager could beat the crap out of.

I think he doesn't count them since him and Lazenby only had a brief moment in the role (2 and 1 movie respectively), not disrespecting

wouldn't have minded seeing more of both but as it is it's hard to name them as "the best James Bond" imo

They've all been good but for me, the top two are #1 Sean Connery for obvious reasons and #2 Tim Dalton for his darker Bond and insistence of returning to the source material. I don't really have a strong opinion for #3 onward but I'm inclined to say it's probably Daniel Craig with #4 being a tie between Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan tbh. Never seen On Her Majesty's Secret Service so maybe Lazernby BTFOs all the other Bonds but I kind of doubt it.

I always vote Pierce in this discussion and I think he would've done very well as an older more serious Bond with some of the Daniel Craig material.

Pierce started out red hot with Goldeneye but his movies got pretty silly as we went on, especially by the time you get to Die another Day. Not his fault though. Craig got to reap the benefits of the series taking a break and bringing the action/storytelling back down to earth a bit. Craig's fine but sometimes feels like a straightforward action film vs. providing some of the fun that Brosnan did.

Connery, Brosnan, Craig. All had a good style that fit them. Connery was a mix of witty and tough. Brosnan was the smooth talker who had the gadgets. Craig was the tough guy.

Moore. And its not even close.

the nation stopped for Bond in that era. Royal premieres and enormous television audiences. Thats credit to the care put into them and Moore fitting the role perfectly. No, its not at all what was in the books, but these remain the most endlessly rewatchable Bond films.

there isnt a sequence post Moore that even comes close to this
