Dude seems kinda weird now, but my understanding it was he was blacklisted out of Holywood and then recently got back into acting. He gained a lot of weight for that movie, but even before then, was still pretty far from his original looks.

he was blacklisted because he accused a big-time producer/director or something like that of groping him at a party I believe.
