Best outdoor home cameras?

Anyone know?

Watch out as many companies have subscription fees for the cloud etc. Next concern is how well does it perform at night , this is where most fall short . Larger sensor , more light , but more money .
Of course the IR’s help to a point . I went with 4K cameras and they still have their shortcomings.
I used G4 pros from ubiquity. I can’t say enough good about this company,but you need back up equipment to run them , NVR or the Dream machine pro .

I have arlo cameras. They are pretty bad. They function fine, but like others said they have subscription fees. I'm looking for an older camera system with no internet connection myself.

I just got the Ring and 3 outside camera set up. Love it. I fuk with the mail people all the time. Just yelled at one to put the package inside the door today because of rain but it delayed too much for her to hear it. It has a USB port for an external thumb drive so I don't have to pay for cloud service.

i've installed 4 amcrest cams at home and 2 at work

4K, 15fps

put a 250g microsd in them and they record 24/7 for about 3 days before overwriting

run on PoE so just a cat 6 cable running to them (no batteries or other fukkery)

no monthly fees, no bezos fapping to my yard

really fkn happy with them

gonna install another 2 here at home when i get less lazy hehe srs

There's quite a few on Costco's website, I ended up getting a Swann (they don't have the exact one) but it was PoE (power over ethernet) and you just need an ethernet wire to power each camera (it comes with the cables) and you plug it into the NVR (network video recorder) and with an app or even connected to the TV, you should be able to monitor the cameras. It was easy as hell to install it

The Blink cameras (Amazon) are good if you're on a budget. They don't record great quality at night, and the motion-sensor can trigger too many false notifications if it's a windy day. But for the price - they're great if you just want a camera to check for porch pirates or something.

There is a subscription, but it's a mere $3 / month for one camera (and $10 / month for more than 1 camera)

I have the Nest camera systems and have been very pleased with them. Great image quality day or night, very very few drops or outages over the course of a year, the app design is nice, etc. We also have the Nest wired doorbell and it's been rock steady as well for 3+ years. Zero false alerts or anything like that. I think we pay $120/year for 60 days of 24/7 storage and that's more than worth it.

IIRC it's the same price if we have 1 camera or 10 cameras, so consider this when doing a system build out.

i seriously considered a lot of turnkey options about a year ago, but IMO the consumer/prosumer products are just not there yet

right now, it seems like everyone is putting potato-level cameras and hardware in their devices and paying some ******* junior dev to implement the A/V streaming and notifications, with a strong wifi and cloud dependencies while asking you to pay a monthly fee with little if any support for having/expanding your own local storage... that's a hard pass for me

IMO there's basically 3 cases
1) most people: just need a doorbell camera of some kind to see when the get a package/who is at their door
2) people who want to see what's going on on their property at all times, but have a budget in the hundreds... IMO these people do not have a great option right now
3) people who want an actual surveillance system that is reliable... you basically need pro-grade setup with wiring installation which will set you back thousands and won't find the solution at costco or amazon
