They don't always start out being woke PC garbage. For instance, I was watching the "Yellowstone" prequel "1883". It started out great with a strong male cast that you would expect in a Western. The show absolutely nailed the harshness of the unexplored terrain, and how death can await you in every nook cranny, and the cinematography and artistic direction was amazing. Next thing you know the strong independent females start getting more screen time over the strong male cast that I was initially interested in seeing more of.

By the end of the show, it might as well of been titled "Little Sloot on the Prairie" as most of the screen time was dominated by the male protagonists sloot daughters misadventures in hypergamy. The show was really trying to drive home the point that only the strongest and Chadliest of Chads are capable of lassoing and wrangling a wild independent sloot.

So yeah, these shows are still trying to appeal to what white straight men are interested in seeing only pull the wool over your head and flood you with wokeness after you are already invested and less likely to stop watching.

Another thing I am seeing that I dislike is these shows like to get some A-listers to make an appearance/spit out some lines for a scene or two, and they blast those A-listers all over the promotional material like they are one of the main characters. "1883" had Billy Bob Thornton in like two scenes in one episode and he was in all the trailers. Very dishonest.

That's what happens when the collective level of free testosterone in males is dropping at unsustainable rates.

I remember trying to watch Deadwood a long time ago and couldn't get into it, but I also heard the show does take a while to get rolling, so I may not have been patient enough. Might have to give it another shot.

Came across that show recently too and ended up being disgusted and turning it off. I was so excited, expecting it to be a badass cowboy show lol.

Absolutely. They know the content they want to inundate us with isn't palatable to a large percentage of the audience, so they now rely on chicanery and subterfuge to drive their point home.

Yup, especially when it's like the same pattern every single damn show. It's like the creators are like "hey, men like westerns, so we can make a western in the year 1883, but introduce 21st century politics/culture into the equation" which then completely ruins immersion.

Some of the themes in every damn show:

Christian preachers/priests seem to be one dimension psychopaths who are the "Bad guys"

The white male patriarchy = bad/run by psychopaths and idiots

Minorities = Bastions of morality/the good guys

Woman = See Minorities, unless the woman is being brainwashed by the white male patriarchy (which presents an opportunity for a redemption arch where said brainwashed/mislead female fights back against the Patriarchy)

Slooting is a virtue as is disobedience towards your parents.

Amazon came with the most anti woke show ever. People got real mad about Rings of Power when it came out cause there is a black elf and a black dwarf but they played up different negative stereotypes to the max. The proto-hobbit creatures who are lazy, rural people and way behind technologically have the thickest Irish accents I've ever heard on an American show lol. On top of that the miserly and contrarian dwarves sound Scottish af while the Elves who seem to the "grown up in the group" of races all speak with an RP dialect. Propaganda that would make Oliver Cromwell proud

It's always a very similar progression. Start out with a mostly mainstream show, get popular. Introduce several major characters that are minorities in high-ranking roles. Add in some mixed-race couples. Introduce a new lesbian character that becomes romantically involved with another female, formally heterosexual character. Introduce several other pairs of lesbians. Introduce a male character that discovers he is gay, work in a lot of male/male kissing scenes and eventually a male/male sex scene. Introduce a trans or nonbinary character and MAKE SURE everyone knows it. Make a big deal about pronouns. Get that character involved in a relationship with a formerly heterosexual person. Always work climate change into the show somehow.

I probably wouldn't mind it if it wasn't so pervasive. Like, if I didn't want to watch a show without blatant woke propaganda, I could just watch something that caters to my demographic, but unfortunately, nobody is really catering to my demographic anymore (Or if the show does appear to appeal to my demographic, it's more than likely a bait and switch), so all I'm left with is old movies .

All the conservative-leaning guys I know from work were absolutely obsessed with that show. Same with shows like Sons Of Anarchy that also went woke by the end.

I didn't think 1883 was woke at all. Elsa was amazing as was the depth of all the characters. Nothing felt forced just for the sake of "representation"

I wouldn't call it anti-woke based on accents that mostly follow from the Peter Jackson movies that were almost entirely not woke. Cringed at the black hobbits and elves. Cringe was taken to new heights when the queen of fuggin' NUMENOR was also black. Still, I have made it a few episodes in so far just because I want to see some of the other lore and scenery.

Couldn't make it past the first few mins of Wheel of Time once I saw that they made half the people in the Two Rivers ****** for no reason.
