Canada crew, will anything be done to stand up to new immigration plans?

Mind blown at the new targets just released.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government has set out a plan for immigration to fill labour shortages in key sectors, including healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing and technology. Ottawa unveiled its new immigration targets in November, saying it plans to welcome 465,000 permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025.

The government says immigration accounts for nearly 100 per cent of Canada's labour force growth
You are destroying your country. You don't have enough housing!

Americans suck sometimes but to our credit our anti mass immigration crowd is vocal and loud and elected a president recently.

What about Canada? Will you have a Canuck Trump to turn this around? By 2025 you will be phucked if you don't act now.

Americans are the biggest cope artists of all time.

Worry about your own dumpster fire.

Biden has let 13 some million people come across the border,

Canada is going to bring in 500,000.

The difference?

The ones Canada is bringing in are going to be TAX PAYERS.

The U.S. population is finally growing again—but not because Americans are having more kids

The U.S. population expanded by 1.2 million people this year, with growth largely driven by international migration, and the nation now has 333.2 million residents, according to estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Net international migration — the number of people moving into the U.S. minus the number of people leaving — was more than 1 million residents from 2021 to 2022. That represented a growth rate of 168% over the previous year’s 376,029 international migrants, with every state gaining residents from abroad, according to the 2022 population estimates.

Natural growth — the number of births minus the number of deaths — added another 245,080 people to the total in what was the first year-over-year increase in total births since 2007.

This year’s U.S. annual growth rate of 0.4% was a rebound of sorts from the 0.1% growth rate during the worst of the pandemic from 2020 to 2021, which was the lowest since the nation’s founding.

Canada accepted a record number of immigrants in 2022, as the federal government seeks to fill ongoing labour shortages with newcomers.

The federal government settled 431,645 new permanent residents in 2022, more than the previous record set in 2021 of 405,000.

"Newcomers play an essential role in filling labour shortages, bringing new perspectives and talents to our communities, and enriching our society as a whole," Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said in a statement released on Tuesday.

"I am excited to see what the future holds and look forward to another historic year in 2023 as we continue to welcome newcomers."

The government says immigration accounts for nearly 100 per cent of Canada's labour force growth. More than half of Canada's new permanent residents are admitted under the economic category, which takes into account the ability to meet labour market needs or create economic opportunity by owning, operating or investing in a business.

"Immigration is even more critical to the labour market than ever before," said Statistics Canada in a report about the country's immigration levels that was released in November.

"Recent immigrants, whose age structure is younger than the general population, constitute a pool of workers who can help mitigate the impacts of labour shortages in a number of sectors and regions across the country."

Immigration is also a key driver of the country's population growth, with approximately 75 per cent of growth coming from immigration, mostly in the economic category.

In the first nine months of 2022, Canada's population grew by 776,217, according to Statistics Canada, surpassing total growth for any full-year period since Confederation in 1867. The data agency says the high level of growth was mostly due to international migration, which pushed Canada's population over 39 million for the first time. The government has said that by 2032, immigration is projected to account for 100 per cent of the country's population growth.

Targeted immigration is fine - ie. yes we need way more doctors and nurses, and we need to fast track the ones we have instead of making nurses go back to school for four years when they have been working in other countries for a decade. They also need to be incentivized to move to rural communities, and if that means paying them more for 5 years then do it. Expand medical school admissions for foreign students if they can make the cut.

But just letting 500k people waltz into Toronto and immediately move to Brampton and move ten people into a three bedroom house isn't helping anything except shoring up Uber Eats and Doordash drivers.

I don't get it. even if you live in a midsized city its gonna be rough to find housing/commute/etc. Problem is that they are importing poors who have a very low percentage of making it out to a higher social class.

moreover immigrants like muslims break up communities or rather turn into a muslim community. slowly Ive seen that happen. where there is some unity in an area suddenly it seems gone. what i mean like there is no rooting for the local high school or whatever mindset that is.

Yes exactly. Canada still has a higher percentage of white people than the US srs. The US is full of blacks and latinos. Canada may have more Indians and Asians but guess who are more likely to be tax paying, law abiding citizens (no racist).

Yea immigration is not the problem. Its letting in these bums that will ultimately live off government assistance and refuse to assimilate. Instead of contributing anything of value theyre just burdening the taxpayer.

They also cant drive for chit.

Gotta hope inflation comes down in a reasonable enough time to allow interest rate cuts and cheaper financing for home builders without excessively impacting construction

I like living in a melting pot tho and don’t feel at all threatened as a late 30s white dude. We need more people.

people on the misc always get on me for bringing up muslims by saying "whazz your problem they keep to themselves!"....well thats kinda exactly the problem.

some muslims lived on my street for a while and I swear they basically lived like house mice....windows were all covered up (I presume so no one would see them without hijabs). they would only come out just to take out the trash or something. it was really really weird. almost like no one lived there.

Its going to be very difficult for the US military to wage a random war on another small country this time around. The best the US can do is instigate a fight like they are doing with NK. They're flying b52 bombers into NK territory hoping for them to shoot at one of the ships.
