Switch vs Steamdeck - How Much Do You Use it?

So I graduated nursing school back in November and I've been working at an assisted living facility while I wait to get a full time gig in a hospital. I work a lot of night shifts and it's really chill, I have hours and hours of downtime while the residents sleep so I was thinking about picking up a Switch OLED or a Steam Deck.

My question for those of you, especially those who own a Steam Deck, how much do youACTUALLYuse it? Is it worth the price?

The mid-tier Steam Deck costs $200 more than the Switch OLED (in Canada) however I'd save money because I wouldn't have to buy games as I already have 300+ games on Steam and I can download emulators onto it.

However the Switch does have a lot of games that I'd love to play, so they both have pros and cons.

I don't own either but as someone who's considered both here's my personal choice: steam deck

Steam deck - we are in the same boat only have to pay the cost of the system. I have plenty of backlog games I could clear out in my down time so I really wouldn't need to buy any.

Nintendo - I haven't had Nintendo in a long time. Cost of the system, plus buying a bunch of games. So add probably an extra couple hundred dollars at least.

Neither of then would get a ton of use from me but they'd be nice to have because I fly 4-5 times per year and I wouldn't mind having one for that.

At the end of the day I'm going steam deck because I already have so many games to play and wouldn't need to turn it into a bigger investment for something I would use sparingly. It would just be a mobile extension of my pc.

The Steam Deck is already getting pretty good at emulating most Switch games, brah. Give it another year or so and I bet you'll start seeing it playing certain Switch games better than the Switch itself can due to it's vastly superior hardware. The controls on the Steam Deck are superior (full-size analog sticks) which will make a big difference when it comes to ergonomics.

Here is Mario Kart 8 running at 60 FPS:

Wow at 60fps? Did you think Switch ran it at 30fps?

It runs it at the same 60 FPS.

But that's kind of the point here lol. The Steam Deck is already creeping closer and closer to matching the Switch in terms of running it's own games. Mario Kart is actually more enjoyable to play on the Steam Deck's vastly superior analog sticks and buttons. I know, super embarrassing for Nintendo.

So...buy a Steam Deck and receive growing access to Nintendo's own library of Switch games + a million other games (it emulates everything up till the PS3, plus Steam's own massive library of PC games)orpay a bit less to buy a Switch and then pay Nintendo launch retail prices to play it's 6 year old games and near AAA prices for it's ports of 15 year old games. The only reason to buy a Switch is if you just exclusively want to play Nintendo games and have no interest in anything else; and even that is a weak stance given the emulation power of the Steam Deck.

The Switch can barely keep up with running it's own new games in 2023.

Nobody has time to emulate on a steam deck unless you're a nerd phàggot. Steam deck is cool but the switch is revolutionary.

How is it embarrassing for Nintendo that hardware released 5 years after the switch launched is stronger? That’s silly.

And I play my switch on my tv 99% of the time, so i really have zero need for a steam deck

This has the same energy as people arguing consoles are dumb because their low-med pc’s mog them a few years down the line

Own both.

I use my switch more than I use my cock for sex.

I play my Steamdeck about as much as I use my anus for sex purposes.

So the switch is collecting dust and you use the steam deck all day every day
