Damar Hamlin will get his full salary despite being injured and not playing

The Bills are guaranteeing he gets his full salary even though there is a clause in his contract saying you do not get your full contract salary if injured. It's funny because there are football players who legit have broken their neck playing football and they were not paid while injured. This case is so bizarre and shows how weird humans are when it comes to near death/actual death. Think about it, Hayla Hutchins while at work gets shot by Alec Baldwin and dies. No one gives a fuk except about who to blame for her murder. Meanwhile, Damar Hamlin has flooded gofundme donations, an entire stadium in Buffalo wearing #3, holding up signs showing support, countless paid interviews with him and his family. Firefighters die trying to save people all the time, people in our military killed by enemy fire or bombings. Nobody cares. No one can name any of the marines killed in the Afghanistan evacuation debacle. Yet Hamlin's name is everywhere.

they prolly made 3x the amount in merchandise sold. it is very very profitable. when beckham was with LA galaxy i remember reading that his merch sales more than covered his salary.

Honestly I think it’s because the NFL is one of the biggest corporations in America, and therefore, has a lot of media influence.

Most folks don’t have an emotion connection to people like Halyna and the marines. Meanwhile, people have emotions to professional athletes because we put them on a pedestal.

Bengals wanted to keep playing and were told the game would resume in 10 minutes. Bills decided not to play and to quit, which worked in their favor playoff wise. I hope they get an upset loss today.

The guy practically died on the field, no problem with them paying him full.

It blows my mind his no one saw any issue with the fact that the Bills literally stole the 2nd seed over the Bengals that game, and what a big deal that potentially was for the playoffs.

What happened to Damar Hamlin sucks, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. That being said, they needed to finish that game for the sake of the entire season. Would have been one thing if it were a game between two mid-tier teams where it barely effected anything (including minimal effect on the draft), but you can't just quit a close game between two teams that are favorites to make the Superbowl, not to mention with home field advantage in the playoffs between the two of them being at stake.
