Bottom-Line Honest Reality. Bullying really does destroy people.
I see a number of threads on here where the thread title is a simple statement that says it all.
So, I shall follow suit.
Bullying really does destroy people. Sophisticated, passive-aggressive, increasingly petty and silent and "between-the-lines" bullying does this no less than more overt styles of bullying.
Sometimes, I wonder if the people who are doing it, who are often *quite* intelligent, really understand what they're doing. Sometimes, I wonder if it's a matter of misunderstanding and miscommunication and people who *think* that they understand the right approach. They *think* that being 'hard' or feeding someone 'anger' is the solution.
But if you feed someone enough 'anger', and especially if there isn't really much that they can do but stew in it, it will only break them down further and further. And they will become increasingly jaded and feel increasingly worse inside and come to view humankind in worse and worse terms. There is less and less likelihood of 'transcendence'. Especially if this person has already had health issues like strokes and heart attacks and cancer and is missing 7 teeth and on his way to missing probably 11 teeth, and a good bit of hair from destructive hair-pulling that has lasted for about 35 years because he hasn't had the wherewithal or resources or support to stop it, or a broken right finger that has been broken for about 6 years that could have been fixed, but is giving him increasingly worse pain.
Maybe they think that if they continue to play head games with this person and push their buttons that somehow they will get what they want out of this person, because after all, they have been able to acccomplish this for so long. They have become successful exploiters. But if, as I just articulated above, the person being bullied and exploited is getting more and more unhealthy and doesn't have the resources and support they need to turn around, their 'luck' is going to run out. An analogy I have thought about for a while is this - In Junior or High School engineering contests when students make bridges and towers out of pasta and glue, how do they know how strong the bridge or tower is going to be, ultimately? Well, they will know when there is finally enough weight put on that construction to finally make it BREAK. That's how you know how strong something is - when it finally BREAKS.
Another analogy is this – If you are a bank, and you forgive and forgive and forgive default after default after default on loans…what is going to happen? That bank is going to fail. That bank is going to cease operations. That bank is going to close. There have to be LIMITS to forgiveness, otherwise there will only be failure and total collapse. Really, it’s the same with people.
When exploring Christian or other types of theology, either through dispassion or some kind of twisted passion, writers may extol the 'virtues' or 'qualities' of a broken heart or a broken person. To a certain extent, there may be value in this. I think it's become overrated. Sometimes, a broken person is going to be ugly - quite ugly. They are going to be quite ugly because they have ingested so much poison from the people who have bullied or controlled or exploited them. It is a simple reality.
Boyos, that person is me. As I just articulated above. Me. William Bryan Noel. And I am nearly at the end of my rope after two failed engagements that never ended in marriage, after losing my only sibling early in life, after soon thereafter, immigrating to another country only for the guy I immigrated up there for who ended up not coming and I found myself there all alone, an already demoralized person, spending 5 years up there working as a temp making not very good money, after being from a broken home that ended in a very acrimonious divorce, after growing up gay in an environment that wasn't exactly supportive of it, after enduring years and years of getting the message at home that I was somehow inferior (whether through means verbal/psychological, emotional, or physical), after enduring a hellacious elementary school where I got detention nearly every week for about 90% of those weeks, seriously, and in retrospect I knew that there was something wrong with this because the people who got detention did not LOOK like the people who did not get detention (poor or black or boy got detention, generally, whereas not poor or not black or not boy did not, generally), after running home from the school bus enough times from boys bigger/older or more numerous than me, getting the message that it was NOT safe for me to be anywhere other than home after the school bus dropped me off, after coming back from not making much money or garnering any success really in the country to which I immigrated and reeling from the final blow dealt by a manipulative...something...sociopathic? narcissistic?...guy whose head games really did enough of a number on me to send me running back home (which meant a really big move), after being vulnerable and lonely and desperate in another country made me vulnerable enough guys to really get my butt kicked and the main relationship I had in my life for which I immigrated to another country saw me be degraded just enough not to stop me from running after the carrot but just enough to make it easier for subsequent guys to grind me down just that much further, after since then enduring well over a decade of intermittent employment (more often unemployed than employed), after literally being physically pushed out of my home once, after enduring a forced eviction another time during which time my landlord stole my laptop and I never got it back, after all kinds of "sophisticated" bullying at workplace after workplace, after pleading guilty to a felony out of a "read between the lines" that said that I was not going to get the kind of legal help to which I was legally entitled, after cold shoulder after cold shoulder from family, after not having anything even remotely like a friend or pal of about the same age as me for well over a decade, no prospects for anything...
Seriously, what do I have left to live for at nearly 50 years old, when the above is and has been my reality nearly all my life? I call b*s* on just about everything. I am nearly at the end of my rope. On this 4th Monday of a new year, I see no miracles. I only see an endless procession of nothing on top of nothing on top of nothing for me, in the context of a world that is becoming increasingly ugly.
I'm sorry, but I have tried one thing after another with increasing feverish desperation, while the people who have exploited me just continue in the same behavior as always, and if I am to be really smart about it, I know that they're not going to change because the older I get, the harder I find it to change or bounce back from anything, myself.
I am nearly at the end of my rope, boyos. I really don't think that we're all going to make it. I am just about done, myself. I am tired of being bullied. I am nearly at the end of my rope.

Bullying is generally bad. That being said it sounds like you are suffering from mental illness man. In such circumstance bullying will certainly exacerbate or worsen your issues. But it definitely sounds like you're suffering from mental illness brother.
I am no expert on the matter but I would say you definitely 2 major things. You need a support system of people. So real friends, people suffering from similar issues who understand, a therapist. You also need a coping strategy. This would apply to how you structure your day. What you consume. Who you interact with. How you manage yourself. And I can say with near certainty that if you are in a vulnerable and sensitive position mentally it would be best to stay away from 99% of the internet. Especially places like this. People on the internet are by nature much more brutal, mean, combative. Its not exactly a healthy place. The only good use of the internet for you in my opinion would be to find a support group (misc is not it), and find information/education to use to your benefit. This is easier said than done.

We need to bring bullying back. Being soft and weak has majorly contributed to clown world.
Freedom of speech is a principle pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved and tyranny is erected on its ruins.

Dude, this doesn't apply to anyone over 21 and if it does they got a lot more things to worry about than bullying.

To the guys saying we need to bring bullying back - it never went away. It's just done differently. It never will go away either, simply due to human nature.

bruh stay strong
if a bully comes at you, find the courage to stand your ground
I've been bullied my whole life and it nearly broke me until I found the will within myself to stand up and say enough. You are stronger than you now. Don't let the vultures and parasites drag you down. This is your life. Take control. Believe in your will.

The primary change in bullying is the kids used to do it, now it's adults, the media, and corporations doing it in the guise of being "progressive." Bullying used to be a lot more honest and brutish. Now it's all manipulative, sneaky, patronizing nonsense. Kids getting stuffed in lockers isn't as bad as adults trying to get other adults fired and blacklisted.
Basically bullying used to be hyper-masculine, it is now hyper-feminine. In fact, I'd say that extends far beyond bullying - it's every facet of culture being feminized. Gen Z are the femmiest generation ever, that's why half their slang is stolen from drag queen weirdos.

Imagine you have a football team where you want to treat everyone equally. That means you have a dozen quarterbacks no matter how good or bad they play.
That means the good athletic kid suffers because he has to share the snaps with the kid who doesnt even know what a football is.
Thats not fair nor is that how society is structured.
back in the day if you sucked at a position, you played something else, you blocked or did something else so the guys who were good could do their thing, Thats how society is set up to work.
of course if you sucked, other kids would mention it to you while having a locker room style laugh. Sure, it sort of sucked but many times it instilled a better work ethic where you wanted to be better and improve your game.
That would be called bullying by todays standards.
if you didnt come in first place, you got to watch the kids who did get a big trophy while you got nothing. They of course would be happy and maybe even talk some smack. Nothing wrong with that, if anything, it motivated you to practice harder and win more the next season.
Again, they would call that bullying today.
That for me is a problem. Sure, no one should pick on teh crippled kid and stuff like that, thats commom sense and anyone doing it should get in trouble. But to stop people from simply finding their place in society goes against what it is to be a a society.
No one wants a team with all quarterbacks on it. They would never win or even have fun.
