now you know those statements were made back then as a result of very specific instances where miscers maid mainstream news (angie varona incident, elliot rodger, and balcony brah etc)

this time feels different because the site has been on a steep decline for some time, mods are barely active, bots, spyware, and spam run amock, the site is down without notice almost on a regular basis and other glitches, and general sluggish software

That misc outage had nothing to do with them actually shutting anything down intentionally. The thing is these server are ran on ancient vbulletin forum tech that hasn't received a proper update since about 2002. Something went wrong on like Friday or Saturday, and they weren't gonna put in the effort to get it fixed over the weekend, hence why it came back up on the following Monday.

Their lack of caring is precisely what keeps the board from getting shut down, tbh. If they gave a chit, they'd need to spend more than $20 a year keeping this forum on life support on some server out in California somewhere. Then it wouldn't be profitable and might actually lose them money, whereas this wild west chit they got going on costs them next to nothing to keep up. The lack of cost is what keeps the misc alive.

well if they started charging a membership fee and they kept it open like it is now i would pay a fee thats how chill this place is
