Debunked: Uk has not banned covid boosters

People under 50 without conditions that put them at risk from COVID-19 will soon not be eligible for a Covid booster jab, the United Kingdom government announced on January 25.

Therefore Twitter warriors and anti-vaxxers primarily in the US have wrongly assumed that the UK has “banned” coronavirus boosters completely. Many have taken to the platform to call for the ending of mass vaccination.

Let’s debunk the rumors and present you with the facts.

HAVE THE UK BANNED COVID BOOSTERS?
No, the United Kingdom has not banned Coronavirus booster jabs.

The under-50 population is considered to be at lower risk, and the UK currently has good herd immunity. Therefore the government complied with the recommendation from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) to end the booster campaign for that age group.

This means that England, Scotland, and Wales will stop giving booster jabs to healthy people under 50 from February. Although Northern Ireland seems to be unchanged. According to ITV, the elderly will still receive twice-yearly top-ups. However, those aged 49 or younger without health conditions will not be able to get these boosters.

The first booster offer will be on 12 February 2023. Everyone who is eligible to receive the dose is “strongly” encouraged to get it. This also marks the last day that the younger, healthy population will be able to get a booster.

The UK follow as Denmark’s government announced in September 2022 that it would stop offering boosters to people under 50. However, it must be noted that things can change. A campaign can be reinstated rapidly if we see a rise in infection or the spread of a new variant.

TWITTER USERS SPREAD FAKE NEWS ‘UK BANNED BOOSTER’
The United States continues to campaign its vaccination scheme with multiple booster options still available. Even babies and infants are encouraged to get three doses of the vaccine.

With the recent news of the UK relaxing rules around their booster program, US social media users have expressed their agitation.

One user asked: “How can the United States continue to push these shots when other countries are ending them?” Others are spreading misinformation on the platform claiming that the “UK has banned boosters” altogether.

You mean the misc CT tinfoil hatters obsessed with covid conspiracies were wrong again? Damn, so many L's.... this one is right up there with them blaming the death if Elvis's kid (who was 54, with family history of heart disease issues and stories history of abusing booze and pepsi) on "the vaxx".

I don't even support covid vaxxes at this point (never supported mandates, always said it should be a purely personal choice between a person, and possibly their doctor too) because it appears verified they are useless at this point. But wow, is the misc beyond obsessed with this chit.

The under-50 population is considered to be at lower risk,

We always were-so why were we jabbed, when it makes zero difference to the elderly, immune compromised etc who were the ones that actually need it & not healthy adults & children whether we are jabbed or not? The jab only lowers the risk of the person it is given to ending up in hospital-not anybody else. Why in many areas were elderly & immune compromised people not getting the jabs they were begging for, while they were being given to healthy people in their twenties & thirties?

Even with the mild variant & the majority here jabbed, it is 85 plus year olds with other health problems ending up in hospital with problems-often still because they learn nothing the NHS actually gave & continue to give it to them by putting them on Covid wards, when they have gone in with other health problems-around 3 or 4 out of 10.

I am a healthy under 50 year old living in the Uk. I would like a booster please.

Wait, it’s not “recommended?” I would still like one please.

Starting Feb 2023, it’s no longer my choice to whether I can get a booster or not?!?

[how is this not the same thing as banned?]
