I'm responsible for my cat's death. /vent
My boy Tony passed away five months ago and it still kills me inside. I think about him all the time.
He had been a chronic puker for years and I never got him properly treated. Never ONCE did I take him to the vet for his puking. All I did was change his diet to something more tolerable and that helped to a degree.
But he developed lymphoma in his lower intestine and it killed him four months later. He didn't even get to die at his home of 12 years. He died miserable and in pain, in a doctor's office surrounded by strangers.
The day he died, I was taking him to the vet for chemotherapy. That morning he was randomly howling - I remember being woken up by it as he lie in my bed. Then I awoke, got us ready and put him in the car to drive to the vet's office. He hollered the entire car trip. I knew something was different, but I had NO CLUE he was that close to the end.
Cliffs: If you have animals, pay close attention if there are any behavioral changes and don't neglect them.
I'm so sorry Tony. I love you so much

I regret my cats death as well. Took her to the vet to get her teeth cleaned and they messed up on the anesthesia and killed her. I felt horrible about that. She was such a good cat. She would always run to my bed when it was bed time.
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

That's a super sad story.
I just got cats and the one isn't even a year old and the other is three.
I dread having one of them get sick or when they get old and die.
I can understand due to money or time putting off treatment, or just being in denial, so don't be too hard on yourself.
When my dog died in the 90s I could bear to get another pet until 2022 when I got the cats for my gf, now I love them. So, I should have gotten pets sooner because I love animals and wasn't listening to myself.
You should get another cat and give it a nice life and not repeat mistakes.
I noticed my cats were very smart.
I read about it and a cat can be about as smart as a two year old.
Where I park my car there's woods and stray cats live there. I saw one last night running around in the cold and thought, that's like a two year old kid living in the woods by himself, and that made me sad.
Strays live about four or five years.
If you are up to it, get another guy for around the house.

Nature just took its course. You didn't kill your cat.

I dream of my dead cats all the time. I miss them so much. In the dreams I usually lose track of them and I go ape**** over it.

Well, virtually all animals die in a fury of blood, pain and adrenaline filled agony...so I'd say you did a fine job keeping Tony away from that life.

You did good by your cat bro. And I don’t think the puking thing is something you could’ve used as a predictor. Cats are puke machines. I have one that pukes almost every day, and another a couple times a week, and then one that has never puked in her life. Vet says all are fine except the big puker is morbidly obese. But he’s like 14 years old at this point so idk if I even want to stress him with a diet or just let him live his best life for another couple years.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.
Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.
