Looking back, I think it's something I would've greatly enjoyed. Never went though. Really, I never wanted to go as a kid. I'd attend a two-week day camp program at my church every summer, but that really wasn't the same, fellas. Not like actual camp. At the time, that was enough for me though. I was satisfied with that. It's funny because a good friend of mine would go to camp every summer. Would go away to camp. Sleep away. A month long program. He would always try to get me to sign up with him, but I just couldn't imagine being away from home for that long. I figured I would get home-sick very quickly, I think. I liked being at home and sleeping in my own bed and everything. Kept me in my comfort zone. I didn't feel I had any reason to venture out into the wilderness for a month and get my face badly mauled by local wildlife.


Looking back, I regret not going though. I truly do. I wish I had those summer camp memories to reminisce on as an adult. You boys know the ones? The memories of diving into the camp lake and later pulling a leech off your ballsack.... The memories of sitting around the campfire singing crappy songs with cheesy counselors who are waaaay too into it..... The memories of having your bunkmate burn fat ticks off the rim of your sweaty butthole.... The memories of having a summer-camp-crush on the cute gal with the freckles who ends up kissing another guy right in front of you the day after you picked her daffodil while out on a camp nature walk....The memories of staying up late telling ghost stories with a flashlight under your chin.... The memories of sneaking into the girls camp and flashing them your scrotum with the leech on it..... I really think I missed out, fellas. It's a big regret for me. It's something I missed out on and can't ever go back and experience. My older sister actually went away to camp every year. Parents would always extend the offer to me. I would decline. Every year I would decline. I just didn't want to go as a kid. Wish I would've though.

Didn't go to church camps or whatever most kids do, but I went to more sports camps than I can remember. They were so much fun.

Big opportunity for kids to build social skills and start to grasp how hierarchies work.

You raise a decent point, Voidgaze. Had I gone to camp, even back then, I may have gone to sleep one night and woken up to a bunkmate reaching under the covers and molesting my groin. Or maybe even gotten dragged behind a tree and sodomized by a handsome male counselor. That sort of a thing really messes up a kid for life.
