The OG Jurassic Park

Just hits different.
I remember going to see it in theaters when they were doing everything in 3D because I was too young when it first came out.

This scene still gives me goosebumps/chills

Read the book back in middle school and recently started it again since it’s been so long.

Its hard to describe unless you watched it when it came out. But at the time it was completely ground breaking. Everything about it. The premise, the special fx, camerawork, music, everything was next level at the time. Feel sorry for kids that grew up later and never got to see it in 1993. I used to love the ride at Universal too but haven’t been since they redid it.

I remember seeing it as a kid (at home though) and being mesmerized. Jealous of those who got to see it originally in the theater for sure but I was 3 lol. Probably would’ve been traumatized.

I remember when I was a kid there was like 10 movies on VHS I watched in rotation over and over, this was one of them. I remember Aliens, Jurasic Park, Dark Crystal, Spawn, Stargate, WaterWorld, Dumb and Dumber, Pet Detective and Steel(With Shaq)

Isn't it nuts how the CGI they did for the original Jurassic Park movie back in 1993 is still better than the vast majority of CGI effects in movies made 30 years later?

saw it in theatre. won like 3-4 of the stuffed toys at the claw machine aftwards too.

you should go check out the new ride.

I think it had a lot to do with the fact that they put as much effort into making amazing tier quality animatronics for fhe dinosaurs as they did the CGI aspects of it. I don't care how great CGI can get, it's still no replacement for high end animatronics completely on its own. Which is probably why I think a ton of movies from the 90's (before the obsession with CGI went off the charts mode) look legit higher quality than stuff like the Avatar movies, especially when the old films can now be viewed on blue rays and chit instead of ancient VHS tapes and such.

100%. In any given year in the 90s, look at the movies nominated for whatever award. You’ll typically find that more than one movie deserved it.

Yeah I think this is a huge part of it. They tried to do as much live as they could and filled in with cgi vs today is the opposite.
