Microsoft's new Bing powered by ChatGPT-4 AI.

Are we going to end up "binging" instead of "googling" stuff soon?

Google is currently on suicide watch.

Bing is the worst. I work in IT and always have to look up troubleshooting Microsoft products. Bing is the worst for this. I have to use google to find relevant Microsoft tech articles.

can someone dumb this down for me. How is this going to be better than google? I can ask google any question I want and get as much info on said question as possible. Is this going to make the answers more detailed? What is the specific difference?

Dumbed down version:
You don’t have to search and find links to websites that you then have to read yourself and come up with the info etc you are looking for.
The new features will go out and look for all of the sites, read them all instantaneously and concatenate the answer or “do the thing” (such as writing a script for example)

Have you ever asked a Google home anything? Because that's what it does. The only thing AI can do is make some **** up

ChatGPT is an AI that works with a current and confined repository of information - google allows you to search the interwebs.

This is correct. I'm excited for the day when it can search live data.

It can make you more efficient in many ways. Sure you can do it, but if you need 5 pages written ASAP, it can do it for you and do it well. It can write emails, etc. It can basically communicate very well given tons of different data.

ChatGPT can write code, emails, articles, and social posts. It can also breakdown web analytics, build marketing strategies, and make excel spreadsheets. There is a lot more, but that's what I've used it for.

I wouldn't have any interest in using it - but I can definitely see a place for it. I think the upcoming generation of mouth breathers will find it more accessible, and it will have utility for very direct, "When did X happen? "What other movies did X star in?" questions for the average person. Although I'm guessing it will have some kind of toggle where you can have it open a traditional search, and they hope that by virtue of making Bing your homepage search engine or what not, you'll be less incentivized to waste time switching over to Google.

Given how awful Bing is, if Microsoft can increase it's usage by 5% of the search engine pie, would literally double the total searches completed through Bing. But given all the $$ they pumped into it, I'm sure they have bigger plans.

You think this is going to be the only version of chatGPT in existence?

The end goal I assume is to have it plugged in to the internet to deliver real time information.

The only downside is that it has shown clear political/ ideological bias, so information that is political and philosophical in nature will show clear bias.

The elites will make this the only way of finding info on the net to curb any last amount of free thought.
