Anyone want to WFH Jobmaxxx? ( 3 Job Krew)

I hear all this talk about dudes stacking 2-3 jobs that are WFH.

I work from home running my own business and never worked a corporates job in my life but I'm gonna try to see if I can stack 2 more jobs onto my WFH business.

If you seriously want to give this a try let me know and I'll shoot you PM.

It'll be a fun journey regardless.

only srs if you are really interested and motivated

You're a boomer Earnie, a lot of jobs these days, you can WFH and get all the work done in 2 hours a day.
The idea is to not dip into my free time, just get paid more during my working hours.

It doesn't have to be permanent. It can be just long enough to pay off debt.

I've been researching this for a couple of months. and I think by March I should obtain my first WFH job (quitting my current job), getting a feel of the place for about a month then applying for another job with the hopes to land a second by Summer.

Here's what i've learned;

It works best with tech roles (Data Science/Data Analyst/SWE/Cybersecurity etc) These are the best fields to try it in because on average you only have about 4 hours of real work per day and with two jobs you'll be kept just busy enough to finish all your work from both jobs.

To prevent overlap of meetings make sure your jobs are in different timezones. For example if both your jobs have an 11am meeting and you live on the west coast, your east coast meeting would actually be at 8am

You can mix and match the level of responsibility. Either get a bunch of easy entry level jobs (that add up to a large salary) or 2 lead/supervisory roles. The later is definitely preferred because unironically, you work much harder with entry level jobs...but it also depends on if you want to take on that extra responsibility. of being a supervisor...so youcoulddo some entry level job then a mid management role.

Its not illegal to be overemployed, but if either of your jobs find out they're not going to like it. so its best to keep it a secret even from close friends and family. People don't know how to shut up and eventually someone will talk just a little too much in front of the wrong person. Even if your jobs are out of state or across the country They can blab on social media which can be connected back to you.

If you're not sure you want to live the overemployed life start with contract/temp roles or even part time, and when you get the hang of it thats when you can get bolder.

I gotta disagree. It really depends on the person. Usually when you get into the $85k/year and up salary the only jobs available are supervisory/managerial roles. Sure, you can just get one 100k/year job, but you'll probably be putting out fires left and right (and probably on-call) due to all the responsibility. But, with a couple of $50k jobs, you're just a bean counter that puts in their hours and goes home.

I wouldn't be comfortable with a 3rd job unless I really knew my first two inside and out. A 3rd job would increase your chances of making a mistake. I've read a couple stories online of people getting 3rd-5th jobs, but not even working just clocking in to get the hours until they get fired after about a month, but all that effort to get the job makes it seem like a waste just for a months worth of income.

Of all the stories Ive read from people living the OE life, I've never encountered anyone mentioning payroll as an issue...but I DO see how it can be a problem. There are only a handful of payroll management systems out there (Kronos/ADP/Payrol) and if both jobs for example, use ADP, I wonder what that looks like from an administrative side of things since your account is dictated based on you SS number? Would they be able to see the second job?

...i'll have to investigate.

i think it's best done with more entry level jobs. it's least suspicious, people generally care less about you, you don't have a lot of responsibility and depending on the job, you can learn to automate your work. the meeting thing might be an issue idk.

I don't think your life gets that much better if say you go from 100k to 180k or something like that. I can see the benefit if you are a guy who makes 50-60k, has loans to payoff and maybe wants to purchase a home/get a bit of a head start saving.

i can't see this working long term though. but if say you do it for 2 years and get busted, I guess the doubling of income was worth it? but getting fired from both jobs would not be a good look.

How the fuk are you going to work 2+ jobs at the same time? Brah, I have days where I'm in meetings troubleshooting something all day. If both jobs ever have an overlap with something urgent (which is not uncommon), I'd be fukked. This is absolutely retarded.

Having multiple jobs is for minimum wage fast food employees. You don't want more jobs, you want less jobs. Ideally 0 jobs

You should work for a smaller company where its not as busy. My current job is hybrid but I only have about 4 hours of work per day. My previous job was in the same profession and it was 100% on-site and it was a bad house every other day like your job, but I knew there was something better out there which is why I took a leap of faith into a more chill company.

2 jobs with 4 hours worth of work each that pay $80k/year ($160k total) is a completely different animal than some minimum wage fast food job. OE (Overemployment) isn't "moonlighting" You're not working a day shift and a night shift. You're working 2 jobs in one shift simultaneously.

I'm at $150k now and while another $100-150k would be great, it wouldn't change my life at ALL, so I just don't see the point. It would give me a lot more savings and maybe give me more wiggle room when it comes to day to day spending, but I was never a big spender anyways so I don't see the point. Rather make an additional $50k/year from the stock market and be happy with $200k all in with one low stress job.
update on payroll:

If you're OE'd and both jobs use the same payroll management system, you're safe from your job finding out.

The vendor (your employer) only sees your current job hours because each specific job is has its own ID number. If they don't have the ID to your other job(s), they can't see that you're employed elsewhere.

It's not illegal to work more than one job and unless they can prove your other job interferes with theirs they have no basis of concern.

lol yep

as for the background check, I guess theycoulddo that, but the vast majority of the time when a job is doing a background check they're checking to see if your college degree is real or if you've ever been to prison. Unless its explicit in the hiring contract, I really don't think they're going to spend the extra money to check up on a "second job"

This too.

Even if they DID check and saw you had a second job, how would they know the two jobs overlapped? For all they know J1 can be from 8-5pm and J2 can be from 6pm-2am or something.

When I signed my contract at my current job, there was a provision in there that they expected all of my working effort go to their current job (salary crew).

I am guessing that would serve as grounds to terminate me if I ever slipped up on the overemployed thing.

Boyo there is 0% chance on the payroll end. I’ve worked for one of the big payroll companies. That’s not how it works
