The Real Problem with AI Images





Polaroid photos of 90s black, black metal/goth chicks at a concert that never existed.

These AI generated photos have come so far, so fast in a disturbingly short amount of time. How long till the public gets access to perfected deepfake technology? 2 years? 3 years? Does the government already have this technology and is it already using it?
How long till photos like

Are dismissed as manufactured and fake? Imagine the government having access to such powerful/advanced programs that they could manufacture blackmail on anyone and the general public wouldn't be the wiser.

AI related law will be a great upcoming field for lawyer bros srs. The speed at which these kind of applications have become scarily indistinguishable from reality was entirely unprecedented by everyone not in the field and probably most people in the field.

AI image generation, ChatGPT/language learning tech, voice generation and deepfakes (and in the future, AI video generation) means fields like criminal law will be changed forever. There is going to be a huge opportunity for smart people to work on how to manage these issues.

as for legal - always ways to knw if it's fake, also can verify it's source such as on a phone, cloud, etc.

And if it doesn’t fit their narrative? It was fake. If that Trudeau pic came out today, everyone would say it’s generated. This makes and breaks blackmail on a grand scale of things.

Sure you can figure out the source if you have the original file, but can those not also be doctored just as easily?
