Near collision between 2 planes at Austin, TX
A Southwest Airlines and FedEx cargo airplane avoided crashing into each other at the Austin airport over the weekend by less than 100 feet.
On Saturday, air traffic control cleared a FedEx cargo airplane to land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on the same runway where a Southwest Airlines flight with 128 people on board was about to take off. The FedEx plane aborted its landing.

Now I'm not a tower guy.. I'm just an enroute (radar) controller, so we can never see how things play out with our eyes like this guy is able to.. but from what I understand in the morning there was a slow push in IFR weather, which makes things move much slower than a clear blue sky day
Tower controller clears one aircraft to land, another calls up for takeoff then tells him there's currently and aircraft on final and cleared for takeoff. Normally that means "hurry up and take off cause you gotta guy currently inbound now".. the plane takes some time actually proceeding to take off and the inbound aircraft crew calls for a "go around" while also telling to the aircraft taking off to cancel.... Controller really froze up and had 2 planes controlling themselves and got withing 70-100 ft of each other.

YouTube comment.
"@pilotrobroy it was the FEDEX pilot trying to avoid a mass casualty and saving his own ass, not to mention Tyroneโs ass."
The controller's voice giving something away?
