Gambling is fine as long as you're in control. I do the same, just a small bet of $5 here and there on major games I'm invested in. I've made about $150 profit over a year.

If you just do it to make games more fun, and aren't spending your lifes savings or stealing money to fund gambling addictions, its a perfectly enjoyable activity.

There's so much research material it's kind of like researching stocks. Not close to the same obviously but many sites have tons of metrics, opponent tendencies, strengths and weaknesses, trends, etc. It's super interesting to me and fun. Even betting $5 and $10 per bet or parlay make winning enjoyable.
