do you need health insurance in the US

im getting tired of paying $500+/month.

anywhere cheaper than healthcare.gov???

i've heard of health care plans that cost like $3k annually, but i forgot where. anyone know??

I don't think 500$+ is expensive. I paid last year 850$/month for my insurance.

If you're an illegal alien then you don't need to pay for healthcare or anything else for that matter..

If you're a citizen of the United States you must pay for your healthcare AND the illegal alien's healthcare + their housing + let them fuk your wife 2x per week

I self insure myself. Works out better for me but I also have the money to cover a major medical expense if needed

The highest I ever paid was $50 a month
Currently, it's like $8 a month.
I only have it because it's cheap.

I am not an unhealthy fuk so not worried even if I didn't have it.

The only important ones are dental insurance and arguably vision insurance.

Medical insurance hasn't been used for as long as I've had it. The few times I have gone to the doctor, they just say drink water, and go to bed and they prescribe 800g of ibuprofen. Completely worthless.

What about folks who don't have good health insurance via their employer? Lots of people in the USA don't have insurance, right?

Healthcare is broken in the U.S. unless you’re on welfare or a CEO $10k/day.

I opted out of health insurance with my employer because all they offer are high deductible plans for around $160/mo. Healthcare.gov is even worse. I’d be pushing $400 premiums last I checked. Makes more sense to pocket the savings instead of pissing money away on garbage coverage.

When I was 19-21 I qualified for the “essential plan” in New York which was $20/mo full coverage insurance. $0 copay. $0 prescriptions. Everything was free. At the time I was a minimum wage worker. As soon as I earned more than $20,000 annual income I was kicked off.

This is all by design. The government disincentives hard work and rewards welfare leeches. If I had a chronic illness that required regular monitoring/medication, it literally would’ve made more sense for me to quit my job and go live off the system. It’s sickening.

I think we should offer free healthcare for the middle class $40-80k/yr earners) and married couples with children should be given tax breaks or UBI. Poor people should be forced to pay out of pocket. Give them a reason to want to work harder. Reward stability and family values. Punish laziness and degeneracy. Of course if a politician ever ran on this platform they’d get cancelled.

I pay $600 a month for medical, dental, and visual insurance for my wife and kids. Once they hit 26 they get removed from my insurance automatically.

$25 copay for doc visits
$40 copay for specialists
Free teeth cleaning every 6 months
Visual insurance gives me a budget where I can get free contact lenses

Doesn't seem so bad. Seems like any other bullschit insurance in our lives except this one seems actually helpful and useful.
