Would you date an 8/10 female with cystic fibrosis?
Claire Lucia Wineland (April 10, 1997 – September 2, 2018) was an American activist, author, speaker and social media personality. Wineland was born with cystic fibrosis in Austin, Texas. She enjoyed performing from a young age and appeared in The Music Man at age four. At age 13, her lungs failed and she was placed in a medically-induced coma. She was given a 1% chance of survival and awoke after 16 days.
Wineland founded the Claire's Place Foundation at age 13.[2] Inspired by the community's support while she was in a coma, she launched the 501(c)(3) non-profit to provide support to children with cystic fibrosis and their affected families.
On August 26, 2018, Wineland underwent a double lung transplant. Shortly after the surgery, Wineland suffered a stroke due to a blood clot which "cut off blood flow to the right side of her brain." She died on September 2, 2018, at UC San Diego Thornton Pavilion.

Knowing she was going to die? That would be heartbreaking. On the other hand, it would be unfeeling and cruel to reject someone just because they will have a short life. As if they aren't already enduring enough.

I've posted about her before, but my last relationship was with a (now) 25 year old with CF. I had every intention of marrying her. We were talking about kids. srs
And this is the most SRS i have ever been on the misc. I spent literal months crying... i mean bawling... when i was alone with my thoughts coming to terms with the fact the odds were I would be a widower &, if we had a kid, a single father within 10 years. And that is the hardest obstacle, both psychologically & emotionally, that i have ever had to overcome. It's a life changing experience. I'm a better man because of her. she is the only woman I have ever loved. And since we split 17 months ago, I haven't even considered dating again. It puts so much trivial crap from everyday life into perspective. I have a CF ribbon tattooed over my heart. I regularly participate in CF charity functions. It is a disease that literally changed the course of my life through her.
We have mutual friends that keep me in the loop on her health regularly. And as of now, her lung function is great & she's in the top 1% healthwise of those with CF.
If i could go back, would i do it again? Absolutely. And I would cherish every minute more than i did.
Would i ever date someone else with it knowing the inevitable outcome? no.
But without hesitation, even though we haven’t spoken in a year & a half, I would trade my life for hers if it would give her a normal life without doctors, hospitals, treatments.
Is she an 8/10? probably not by MISC standards. But she's a 10/10 to me. My oneitis. My ultimate HBB.
You decide.
