Is amazon full of counterfeit goods? srs

Bought new balance shoes and a known drugstore type of face cleanser.

Both felt odd - shoes a bit weird discomfort from usually comfy shoes, cleanser felt a bit too harsh.

Bought the same exact things from a clothes/shoes online retailer (that I assume purchases directly from new balance) and a pharmacy chain here in the UK and both felt super different to the ones from Amazon.


I guess cosmetics and clothes/shoes lots of margin to be made from pushing fakes. Wonder how the electronics are.

Anyone with the same experience? Thinking of calling quits on amazon and going to retailers that stock goods from brands and paying the 10-15% more expensive. What products would be safe mostly?

I've read a lot of New Balance reviews on Amazon. A lot of people have similar stories. They sell so many shoes that they have different manufacturing locations. China, Indonesia, Vietnam etc. I think it's just different batches, locations.

If u click on 1 star reviews ull always see reviews of ppl saying the stuff was fake etc

That’s why I never buy any supps from them

Usually physical goods I don’t really care about even if they are fake as they are serving a diff purpose.

But don’t get food/supps etc from them
I don't check my CP, IDC about reps/negs

There's no regulation on Amazon, it's an online 3rd world market where half of the items are misrepresented or outright fakes

I'm currently studying up on the fashion industry and basically, counterfeit products account for billions in loss profits each year.

Thats why I think retail stores will make a comeback.

That or I just order directly from the website. But even that feels cheap sometimes because when the shoe doesn't fit, I'm stuck with the product and it takes weeks to mail chit back and forth.

re: counterfeits I remember reading about how Tide detergent is one of the number one most produced fakes. Tide actually does make a difference when real but how many people would notice it?

Rolexes are also so perfect faked that its almost impossible unless take to dealer to know difference. In fact one dealer told me their watch certified rolex guy took in a watch that was so perfect fake he couldnt believe it.

The major sports brands have chit tier shoes which are no better than Target/Walmart shoes, but they slap their Swoosh, stripes, or whatever on them and sell them for 2-3 times as much.

You gotta make sure it’s sold by, and shipped by Amazon. Alternatively if it’s sold by a known big brand, like Apple, then it has to ship from Amazon.

Don’t buy chit that comes from some weird small market and you’ll be OK.

Yes its fine. As long as you ordered it directly from the brands' main website. I've done it many times and was 100% satisfied. Only had fitment issues because of ordering online.

Reputation is very important. And retailers have the most rep since they have a brick and mortar venue.

It absolutely is. You have to be careful and check sellers information. When it comes to stuff like that i would buy off ebay from sellers with 99% rating and thousands of listings.

I meant ordering directly from the retailer website, like Nike.com

Amazon is not that bad imo. They are pretty good at giving you returns and resolving any issues that you have if you arn't satisfied. I've ordered tons of stuff and returned plenty from Amazon without much problems.

When NAC came back to Amazon, my normal brand sucked ass. Think it was Nutricost. It was odd that NAC was taken off of Amazon in the first place due to it's immune system support.

I've found ebay a lot better than amazon. People with legit stores on there care more about getting negative reviews so they ship faster, more carefully, and descript the products more accurately.

Buy direct from Nike or dicks srs

Kohls and all those other stores have Nike products but they are usually lower quality

Bought a pair of club fleece from kohls and they are a lot thinner than the ones I bought from Nike, they legit feel like fakes

but I feel like Amazon aggregates multiple sellers for the same product and even combines reviews and ****

so on a link looks legit but it might put you down a pipeline where some other dodgy sellers is the only one with stock for a certain size

ebay sides with the buyer 99% of the time. People have sent back a box with a brick in it for gpu sellers and ebay still forced the seller to return the money.

I only buy on amazon if the store they're supplied by is well known. You can step into the ebay tier of the website and that's when chit gets weird.

complain, you'll get a refund and told to keep the product. they don't want returns

a friend sloot that i used to pork ordered a $500 fridge. it came with the smallest of dents that you cannot see. she complained. they told her she could have a refund and keep it. they had already collected her old one, and will no doubt just claim off of their insurance for this one. or some other BS.

Ive just learned you dont search for things on amazon. The ratings are complete crap and "relevant search" results are all amazon "brand" utter chit.

Find what you want and see if its available on amazon. There is good stuff on there, but its hidden behind all the sponsored dollar store crap.

Chinese companies regularly hijack listings, buy fake reviews, sabotage their competitors to get 1st page ranking and use a whole lot of other illicit tactics to win the game of Amazon. Since they’re the source of cheap goods, they can afford to undercut everyone and still profit. They don’t care if they get banned either because they can open an unlimited number of accounts. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I am a huge customer and shareholder of Amazon, but yes it is absolutely full of counterfeit goods, they know it and not only don't care, it is an intentional profit strategy. Especially in small electronics where they market the whole "frustration free packaging" solely for the purpose of selling counterfeit goods to customer's thinking hey are paying a higher price to get a genuine brand named product. Companies put a lot of time and money into the design of their packaging as part of the brand experience. How would it be any benefit to the customer or Amazon to have someone take a genuine brand named product off the shelf and instead of just putting it into a box and sending it out, have someone physically remove it from the factory designed packaging, throw that away and put it into generic brown box before to send to the customer that wanted a real genuine product. Amazon charges for their gift wrapping service where they just give you a f'n bag instead of actually wrapping the item with paper, bow, card as you would expect so they sure as hell aren't paying people to remove genuine products from their packaging and put it into generic brown boxes for free. They are just normalizing customer expectations to not distinguish real vs fake products.

That being said, it is the same across all online retailers today, if you are buying online you should expect knockoffs. For quality name brand products it is best to go to a legitimate brick and mortar retailer to make sure you are getting the product you expect and the priciing isn't even any different these days.

From Amazon because I've either been burned or it's well known you will get burned. Shipped by Amazon means nothing with comingling BTW. And LOL at trusting the stupid fuks when they allow so many fakes and bullchit products in the first place. People are naive.

Also LOL at wading through piles and piles of Alibaba drop shippers, literally 20 sellers with the same fooking thing and all with a weird ass name.
