The layoffs sweeping corporate America are now claiming one of their main casualties โ€” the bloated and counterproductive sector of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) professionals, new research shows.

As the tech industry laid off tens of thousands of workers last summer, DEI teams shed about a third of their staff, according to data compiled by Revelio Labs. Other departments were only losing a fifth at the same time.

Tech firms Zoom, eBay and Dell have in recent days joined the sector's massive downsizing, which saw some 150,000 jobs shed last year and many more expected in 2023, according to job tracking site Layoffs.fyi.

I wonder if this movement keeps eaking in this direction if there will be a false-framing of people's memories, kind of like with some people and their now shifted opinions on lockdowns, masking, laughing about unvaccinated dying and demanding they be denied medical services, etc... there were people who treated some of us who wanted people to simply be judged fairly and have race not be a factor, very poorly. Often some chitlib like Pat would screech about how 'racist' we were or others would look at our common sense and reasonable stance as if we were cavemen.

Will some of them retroactively pretend they never held those positions or attitudes?

unless you hire complete potato's pretty much everyone in 2023 knows how to act in the work place and treat each other with respect.

except the DEI people.
they don't know jack chit then blame everyone else for their failures in the work place and also blame bigotry and racism.
fuk even their fellow minority IT co-workers hired on merit and skills can't fuk'n stand these people because they are always miserable and a void in the process flow.

Which would be fine if they kept to themselves.

that feel when you no longer have to call a co-worker with a "system is down" "emergency" while someone is vomiting their drama at them while standing in the entrance to their cube.

I personally would just put my headphones on or get up with my laptop and just go sit somewhere else while they were mid sentence but that just angered them and got me reported to management for being wacist/bigot/whatever else.

so we came up with a reverse phone a friend lifeline plan.

The whole premise is like if companies thought they were hiring Hannibal Lecter to catch serial killers, but really they just hired Buffalo Bill who is only looking for new skin suits on their dime.

Companies could have probably saved themselves the time, money, and overall trouble just by getting off of twitter/social media and sticking to one-way advertising/brand awareness rather than the foolish effort to "engage" with their consumer base. The moment they extend themselves beyond "company that provides a product and/or service," they invite the dredges of social media to harangue them about how whatever they're doing isn't enough. Their first mistake is actually believing that the terminally online lunatics compose a meaningful fraction of a percentage of their actual customers, and their second is believing that they actually ever could "do enough" to appease the perpetually miserable wretches on twitter.

Of course, they live in a constant state of the convenient present and will huff their own gaslight fumes to convince themselves that they never held such beliefs. One consistent behavior they exhibit is an inability to ever admit they were wrong and someone they disagreed with at any point in time happened to be right about something. Even something as mind-numbingly obvious as, "don't judge people by their race, ethnicity, sex, ect., but as individuals."

It's essentially hiring the most intrinsically racist, sexist, and generally bigoted subhumans on the planet because they're the only ones who are hyper-intolerant enough to make anything into something "offensive."

They only thing they can accomplish is either making an existing problem far worse or flat out creating a problem that never existed in the first place at everyone's expense.
