I live near there, happened some time ago. Makes a case for working out in semi-normal hours, not when its just you and some psycho alone in the gym.
Having said that, my biggest fear in the middle of the night isn't having a plate dropped on my head, it's the drunken and violent Aborigines who wander around in droves. I was riding a bike one night and two of them run out from the bushes and tried to coathanger me off my bike.

What makes this more disturbing is that it's seemingly a random act of violence. If there was some sort of history between these two then at least there'd be some reason, but nope, just malice directed at a random stranger.
