Getting a mortgage for a one bedroom apartment?

Anyone else done this? The thing is I’m a single bloke and can’t see myself settling down anytime soon so dunno if a house is worth it. The prices for a half decent 2 bedroom house are ridiculous these days.

The only issue is they’re leasehold 98% of the time so technically not a full a homeowner due to ground rent I suppose, plus hard to re-sale if I planned to move.

The plus side they’re easy af to maintain compared to a house as I like an easy life.

What does the misc think?

Basically what I did
Bought a small condo near downtown in September

No regrets ...worked out so far

You just gotta come up with enough $$ to put down so you can afford the monthly payments

Not sure if srs, if you buy your own apartment you only own the room itself, not the ground it sits on so that’s why it’s a leasehold. Ground rent ain’t that expensive but yeah.

Freehold you own the whole property it sits on, very hard to with a flat/apartment that’s freehold tbh.
