How does a top player like LeBron lack killer instinct?

Is it something you're born with and can't be taught?

Yes. This is one of the biggest reasons lebron can and will never be the GOAT. He doesn't pass the eye test. Even though his stats have surpassed Jordan, if you ever just watch them side by side, he just lacks something.

he's much more like magic johnson than he is mj, kobe or even prime wade

he's a distributor that can get hot at times. He has elite vision, elite size and speed. What he isn't however is fluid with his movement, nor is his footwork any sort of poetry.

he's more of a football player, great in a straight line but if he has to cross you up it's hilarious.

this limits him greatly come crunch time, not mention he's got some of the worst form on his jump shot in history.

Abnormally strong adrenaline response, good for fight or flight, bad for fine motor skills (srs)

Clutch players are born not made.

I've said before and I'll challenge anyone to prove me wrong here, first series against GS Lebron lost:

- There's a pretty good chance he could have won

- He stopped shooting it last 3 or so minutes in the 4th quarters of the games, unless he could get an open, clear path layup

- Because Lebron was afraid to do what GOAT players do in crunch time and take over, GS was able to guard Lebron with STEPH CURRY (he was the smallest guy in that rotation too)

- Because of that GS was able to run a small lineup with no penalty for it because LeChoke was too scared to miss a big shot and/or go the FT line.

LOL imagine the strategic advantage for Kerr when he found out he'd be able to put his smallest guy and best shooter on Lebron in the most important parts of the game with no consequences.

Lebron SHOULD have been tea bagging Curry ever time down court until Kerr decided to go with a bigger lineup (and so one less shooter, that's the point).

That and if I was Lebron being guarded by Curry I'd attack every possession because then GS is looking at their best player fouling out.

Lebron gave GS the biggest break and then whined about not having enough help when he had more than enough help.

Lebron was THAT good but if you're gonna punk out in the most critical time of the game the odds of your team winning go down drastically.

Can't really be GOAT if during GOAT time you turn into a role player.

If an alien came to earth with no knowledge of basketball and you explained all the rules and stats to it,

It would confidently say - ‘so this LBJ guy has like 7-8 rings based on everything you showed me right?’

You are exactly right. MJ or Kobe would not have left the game in anyone else's hands. They craved the ball in those situations.

This is what I mean about the eye test. Show someone who has never watched basketball film of MJ, Kobe, and Lebron and it's pretty easy to see lebron is not the GOAT

Has any other NBA player come back from a 3-1 NBA finals deficit? Or beaten a 70 win team in a best of 7 playoff series?
All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

Buzzer beating 8th seeds doesn't mean ****.

Jordan didn't need to buzzer beat teams or beat 70 win teams. He was the 70 win team. He didn't need to buzzer beat because he was already winning. But he did it anyway cause he might as well win it in 6

And THAT's why they both have more rings in less tries.

Not because they had this guy, or that guy, it's because they never took their foot off the gas.

You could watch the games and see it too, I specifically remember thinking WTF is he doing?

Guaranteed Steve Kerr was the most relieved, who wouldn't be if the other team's player decided to stop attacking in crunch time?

I remember he did something similar in a super critical moment in their series the year Detroit won the championship.

I can't remember exactly because it was so long ago but Lebron was right under the basket and instead of slamming it he went for some weak ass layup and started crying because the ref didn't call a foul.

It's down to seconds on the clock late in the series, refs are gonna swallow their whistles, YOU'RE LEBRON JAMES!!

And Lebron was good enough that he still could have won it.

Just is what it is.

Go watch the games and tell me that Lebron wasn't punking out at the end of games.

I keep telling peole GO WATCH THE TAPE and instead you all would rather sit here and autistically screech.

Go watch the tape and honestly if you don't agree with me after watching you're 100% delusion Bronsexual.

GS wasn't like some buzz saw, the Cavs were competitive but hard to win games when the best player on your team wants to be a role player in the most important minutes of the season.

Actually Jordan's team was an 8th seed back to back years, and got swept both times by McHale & crew.

Jordan was too busy losing in the first round year after year.. but hey if you wanna make the argument that Jordan is better than LeBron, then sure. It's a valid discussion, it's why BOTH are in the GOAT debate

But by this dumbass logic,no one in the history of the game is clutch besides Jordan.. Help me to understand this logic

But hell not even that because Jordan still lost multiple times in the first round, so really Bill Russell is more clutch than him considering he's won 11 out of 12. So guess Jordan isn't even clutch

Please don't talk basketball because you sound stupid based on your logic
