Apartments are always nicer than houses

It's true I may be a rentcel and not actually own anything but these apartments are always better taken care of

I don't have to do sh*t to keep it nice either. Usually what I'll do is a stay in one for 2-3 years and once it starts getting a little worn from my use just switch to a new apartment and the complex has always made sure the new unit is in good shape. Sometimes I even stay in the same complex and just switch units after I've worn in my current unit LMAO

Just paid rent today. Feels good man

You're not wrong. Living in a 1000 sqft apartment with two bathrooms, granite counter tops, everything brand new, a pool, a gym, a games room for $1500 a month. A mortgage on a pile of crap with a 70's kitchen in my area is roughly $2500 a month, never mind expenses like new shingles, furnace, water tank etc never surprise you. To get a house like this currently would probably be about $2800 a month all in.

BRB paying $1300 a month less for similar quality home
BRB that $1300 adds up to $15,600 per year or $400,000 over 25 years
BRB MY EQUITY!
BRB my $400k is equal to your home's value
BRB I never shoveled or cut grass or paid $10,000 for a new roof

But I get to make RENTCEL THREADS! Sorry though, gotta got cut my grass and cook in my 1970s kitchen. LOL.

And 25 years after their mortgages are complete:

Time for $50,000 kitchen reno! Time for a $5,000 bathroom reno! Time for a new roof!

Oh, you thought you were done paying? Congrats, you own a (now) old dilapidated junk pile that needs mad renos!

Imagine paying your first year and you drop $15000 in mortgage payments and 80% goes to interest. I pay half that in rent, and rest goes into the market. My kitchen has granite counter tops, I always ask you proud home owners to show us your kitchens but it probably looks like a heap. Never had a home owner on this board offer to show me their counter tops LOL.

Very telling.

bruh to get an apartment that's actually nicer than my middle class house in my area, you'd be looking at paying like $2k /mo in rent, not including any utilities, absolute minimum.
