Is it possible to become a successful day trader?

I’ve seen mixed opinions about day trading

Some people don’t recommend trading and hold the opinion of investing instead, others say they’re successful some even claim they made millions

I earn 3% every month of my account balance. The problem with trading is you need to be disciplined and even if you get bored you need to follow your strategy. And that is why most people fail.

Also if you only have 100 bucks 3% is probably not worth trading for hours ever day. You need capital to make capital.
Everything I post is trash.

day trading is for inside ring of professionals with access to a very specific information. Like level 3 quotes, access to large financial resources a other tools of a questionable legality.

Learn how to read financial statements and invest, not trade.

This.

I was up 140% from 1/15-2/10.... From the 10th-15 I lost about 60% of that profit. At peak was up $90k on the month, ended the month up about $38-39k. What happened? I went out of my set in stone rules I go by. Leveraged too much, didn't set some tight stop losses. Took me 25 days to make $90k and took me 5 days to lose $50k

90% of day trading is actually not trading and doing nothing.

It requires patience and waiting and walking away without care.

Yes but unless you are a genius, it's not for newbies.

This is something you do when you have mastered the easier forms of trading.

Think about it like this, when you learn to box, you don't start by mastering a 12 punch combination, you must first master your jab.

Don't be that guy whose first trades are short-term options way OTM lol.

Day trading futures, mainly Russell 2000 /RTY and /M2K contracts for 5 years. First two years lost $20k each. 3rd year broke even. Quit my full time job when corona hit on my 4th year of full time trading I was able to match my “regular job” salary and 5th year now, doing good so far. Secret is to have a daily stop loss. Mine is $300. Once I hit that I do not touch a trade again till next day. My stop loss gets hit once or twice a week. My minimal daily target is $400. Sometimes I hit bigger ones. But it took 5 years to learn just one index and how to manage loss.

You guys want a “life hack” here’s one. There’s two inverse pairs of ETF’s, they are TNA and TZA. TNA is 3x bullish on the Russell 2000, TZA is 3x bearish.
Buy the exact same amount of shares of each. One will ALWAYS make you money. The other one will ALWAYS lose, but your initial investment will remain the same.
Once either has hit your goal. Let’s say TNA made you $1000, but TZA lost $1000. You sell TNA, then wait for TZA to rebound. If TZA only rebounds you $200, your overall money still goes up, because the initial sum invested was not affected by the market chop.
If you really want to get creative with those you can average down on the loser and wait for even bigger gains.

No, not when you're up against HFT algos and people much more in the know than you. That's why the vast majority lose money.

If you want to make stacks quick - invest in crypto during down years and sell during the up years.

If you want to make stacks long term with lowish risk - set up a sizeable regular monthly purchase of an ETF or index fund like VWRP or S&P Total Market and compound your gains for 30 years with zero mental effort needed.

Day trading is broadly for plebs.
