doods?

240sx KA24DE with turbo. Might as well upgrade to a T3 turbo at 14psi or something.

Saw it hit 260F and then pulled over to get towed. Don't want to risk driving it anymore.

Within a minute.

I had this mishimoto radiator for a couple years but searching today many people say their radiator caps are trash.

I let it cool down then attempted to drive again but temps were quickly rising in the parking lot so I stopped.

Ill just use a Z32 or Nismo cap.

Idk about that specific car or engine but in general you’d likely have to overheat for a longer period than that or multiple times before you’d **** your engine. If it ain’t knocking then I’d say you’re fine

You're fine bro. 260F isn't that scary.

Did you hear a chit ton of knocking? If not, your engine is fine.

Why not get a head gasket test kit to see if it blew or if it's still good?

You're probably low on fluid reason why it overheated quickly. Should've pulled over at a gas station and checked the coolant level. Refilled with water than drive home without spending money on the tow truck.

260F isn't going to do chit to any components of your engine from a material point of view.

Detonation would have been the most dangerous thing.

Check gaskets, flush coolant, replace cap. You should be golden.

Hopefully it'll be fine. I don't have a lot experience with turbo cars but overheating once for just a min usually blow the gasket or warp the heads

This

You wrench but don’t know this opie ?

Buy or rent one of those kits to detect a combustion leak to make sure your head gasket is fine and it should be A okay as long as it doesn’t run rough after being warmed up or have any knocking or loud chattering noises (piston slap or broken skirt).

I’d also keep an eye on your coolant level to make sure your head isn’t cracked and dripping coolant from a rear corner of the engine.

260f is just the bulk outlet coolant temp. local surface temps at a 260 reading can be high enough to cause cracks/head gasket failures especially on an old pos cars like op's especially if its in a low coolant condition

This is why cast iron v8s are better IMO but only slightly so.

Especially if it’s got a solid steel head gasket design like some Ford engines do.

If you have a aluminum block or heads you might be ****ed popping a coolant hose or radiator cap just once.

Lmaooooooooooooo

I agree he needs to check his gaskets but those 0.2 liter engines don't make enough power to generate heat even with a turbo.

You can run a Jeep 4.0 cast iron inline six with no oil and overheating for 10 miles and it'll be fine after you put coolant and oil in it. Those things were bulletproof
