It's just how you remember chit. Your brain filters out useless stuff, which is like 75% of your life so now you think time went faster. RIP. For me, time feels slow as balls because I spend a lot of time dabbling in random chit and reading stuff. Keep learning and it will be less "fast".

True

If I sit on my ass all day the time flies but if I’m doing a variety of active/stimulating things it seems slower

You want to feel old? GTA: San Andreas' release date was a few years closer to the 80s than it is to our current time.

The Nintendo Wii is now older than the SNES was when the Wii came out.

Time felt slow because you only lived for 3-18 years. A tiny amount of time.

its relative.

1 year when youre 10 years old is 10% of your life. But the older you get, that number gets smaller

Its the constant stimulation. From the minute you wake up until you got to sleep, 90% plus of your time there is an external stimulus. Some of it is entertaining and novel, so before you know it the day is gone.

You cant take a **** without reading things on your phone. The minute you sit down somewhere the phone comes out. Go for a walk or hit the gym, and the ear phones are in. Drive somewhere and there is music or podcasts. How many people eat dinner in front of the TV? When you take a break, you relax by firing up Youtube or social media where you just scroll and scroll. When you have free time you are playing games, watching TV, etc.

Switch off the electronics for 3 days and see how much longer your day is.

I think a part of it could be that you're doing things that actually make time fly by more often as an adult. If your activities are full of fun, hours go by and you're like WTF. I remember even as a kid, going to amusement parks or watching a movie I'm pumped for at the theaters, those moments felt quick as hell during the time... as a kid don't you remember thinking "can we go again?" because that wasn't long enough for you in your perspective of time. Conversely, doing things that you aren't particularly excited about doing, like studying, or sitting in a boring class with boring teachers and subjects feels like it takes forever.

I would go as far as to say that Summer vacations as a kid felt speedy for what they were... in my state a Summer vacation is 12 weeks long... that's 84 pharking days lol. If you aren't employed or doing Summer school or something like that, of course 12 weeks of primarily fun and leisure is amazing. Compare 84 days of off-time (plus Spring break, plus Winter break, plus holidays, so really it's 100+ days easily), to the 20 or less days you get as "vacation time" as a full-time working adult... pharking LOL. Also worth mentioning that since like 90% of our year as full-time adults is working, and has some sort of routine/structure, most days feel the same, you've adopted a routine, the days begin to blend together. Also there's a good chance you've had a lot of "boring days" as a kid during your 84 days long Summer vacation, so those make it feel longer too. Also I think that what the miscer who wrote essentially "it's relative, 1 year is 10% of your life at 10, 5% of your life at 20, etc." has a good point too.

Random things that make your days feel fast AF:

- Alcohol. It's fun and therefore makes time feel fast AF in itself. If you black out then you're literally fast forwarding that many hours into the future. If you drink enough you're might be falling asleep too, fast forwarding your time.

- Sleeping too much. As mentioned before, sleeping is literally fast forwarding time from your perspective. The average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep a day, per Mayo Clinic. I personally find myself lately averaging on the higher end of 9-10 hours of sleep, therefore my days feel 2-3 hours shorter than people with shorter sleep times. Interestingly though, Mayo Clinic says kids need 9-12 hours of sleep at ages 6-12 years old, and 8-10 hours of sleep at ages 13-18 years old... so as an adult you should technically have more waking hours than a kid anyway... making your day feel longer versus someone younger.

Random things that make your days feel long AF:

- Weed. Getting high feels like every second of every minute ticks by much slower for me. I think most people feel this way too.
