After playing a bit on my new PS5

PS5 controller vibration is so much better than Xboxs old school basic vibrate function on their controllers

Also just feels better overall to press buttons

Thats all

Yea if you’re in to that type of thing it’s definitely noticeably better on PS5 controller. I turn it off on everything pretty much though. Never liked it.

The PS5 feels like it vibrates in sections giving it a better feel

Buttons feel better to press

Not a huge difference, just small things

Op ngl thought you were gonna talk chit but I'm pretty surprised all the xcels who bought a PS5 have been positive about it. Props.

Glad folks are starting to see the distinction between rumble/vibration vs dualsense haptics which are a totally different thing. Which games are you playing? If I could give one small suggestion, it's to try Astro. It's crazy to me how they manage to make you feel like walking on metal or sand etc just based on the haptic feedback. I was just playing Spiderman Miles Morales and there's these powerful moves like a super punch for example that feel so fuking sick when you land one and feel the enemy shield shatter. I just can't go back now.

In the example I just mentioned @ super punch, your character charges up and you feel the vibration intensity rise, then you smash against their shield, sending them hurdling but somehow you feel the force of the impact just as you snap against the hard shield and shatter it. All of it is felt, it's so satisfying.

Yeah the vibration feedback is probably a step above the competition, but I still think of the dualsesnse triggers as being a mixed bag. Sometimes they add some fun feelings or feedback, other times the effects feel unnecessary or like it just makes the triggers unnecessarily heavy feeling. That said it's a massive improvement over the PS4 controller, which had nothing to offer besides gimmicks for the most part. At least with the PS5 controller I think it's new technology actually adds to the experiences.

Only thing I don't get is why Sony needs to be so stubborn about their chitty analog stick layout, I find it more comfortable when the analog stick is where the d-pad is.

Man wait till you get used to it, especially since most of the new releases have been hits rather than misses. It feels super weird to go back to the normal vibrations and even worse if there's none.

Good thing is you can turn haptics off if you want too, I love it.

And stick layout is great, symmetry > ugly Xcel controller layout.

Oh my days. We've come a long way after Jay's infamous claim that MS have had haptics for years before Sony and that the rumbles are nothing more than gimmicks.

Who would have thought that actually trying something out for yourself would have a different experience than trying to talk chit on the internet because you must indulge your fanboy tendencies.

Out of all the dumb posts by all the dumb people on these forums, Jay saying Xbox has had adaptive triggers for 10 years is still my favorite.

I much prefer the two analog sticks on the inside, ala playstation controls. Makes it easier to use index fingers to hit d-pad buttons while thumb is still on the left stick. Especially on games like monster hunter. They call it the "claw grip"

It feels awkward doing that on the xbox controller. I also think the shoulder triggers on the xbox is weird. Hard to convey it, but they rub too closely to the inside of my fingers
