Imagine if someone has dirt on you and wants to get you fired. They can easily go on LinkedIn and see where you work and get you fired.
Hell, you can have the cancel culture mob come after you for a dumb reason like social media posts or calling the cops on a black guy and have people go on your LinkedIn and see where you work and get you fired.
Srs it's super dumb how people expose themselves to the world by putting where they work on the internet.
I made a lot of enemies by saying inflammatory stuff in college and a lot of it is on videos and group chats. If anyone wanted to get me fired, they easily could if I put where I worked on LinkedIn. Just a retarded move imo

I use it to keep track of things going in and around my field - if you don't want anything on your news feed, you can leave it blank.
Mainly, I add people that work in my field and when I need a "recommendation" to move elsewhere, I can message them, chat about the open spot, and get a quick voucher.
Otherwise, I don't really interact with it other than a new connection.

1). When employers are looking at resumes, they will sometimes check a person's Linkedin. If they don't see a LinkedIn, they begin to wonder. So Linkedin serves this purpose for job applications
2). Linkedin allows you to exaggerate and flex:

I work with hordes of crazy people and I don't want them knowing where I am at.
Women is another issue. In Philly, a woman will try to get you fired for the fun of it, so you can't let women know where you work.

It's a tool just like anything else. You can also keep your page private. Not to mention not doing stupid chit publicly. You can directly contact a recruiter instead of BS application process.
My last job I got via a recruiter reaching out to me. Life changing job opportunity.
It's not that I really use it much, but other people do, which helps me network. I even had a problem with a particular company. Their President reached out to me randomly and I got the issue fixed.
One guy previously worked for a company I wanted to do business with, so he hooked me up.
I guess if you're pretty worthless with no business sense and want to miss good opportunities, don't use it.

I used LinkedIn to find the current job I have now, I had a resume ready to go and just applied to as many jobs as I found that was a good fit and after bagging the job, I just deactivated my account
