Trump admits he'd let Putin annex Ukraine to end war.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-ne...raine-end-war/
But in another sense, just quoting Trump offering to give a part of Ukraine to Putin doesn't capture the magnitude of this situation.
The implications if this were to have happened? Destroy NATO and leave all of Europe vulnerable to Russian attack. America weakens its trade with China and India and these countries instead, strengthen a relationship with a newly emboldened Russia.
Russia would now dominate the Eastern hemisphere and rival the US.
It would aggravate WW3 more than anything else. I always said Trump's moves on foreign policy were clueless and supplicating to dictatorships and weakening America on a global scale, but the dude is a straight upcuck.
Donald Trump indicated that he may have “made a deal” allowing Russia to take over parts of Ukraine to end the war if he were president at the time of the invasion.
Mr Trump said it would have been an “at worst” scenario, and would not have happened because Putin would not have dared invade Ukraine at all if he had been in the White House.
The former president told Sean Hannity’s radio show: “Don’t forget, under Bush they take over Georgia, under Obama they took over Crimea. And, under Biden, they’re taking over everything. It looks like they’re going to take over everything, the whole thing, they’re going to go for the whole enchilada, they’re going for everything, that’s what it looks like to me.
“And, under Trump, you know what they took over? They took nothing, Russia. First time, first president in a long time. He [Putin] understood. He would have never done it.”
Mr Trump added: “That’s without even negotiating a deal. I could have negotiated. At worst, I could have made a deal to take over something, you know, there are certain areas that are Russian speaking areas, right, like, but you could have worked a deal. And now Ukraine is just being blown to smithereens.”
The former president said: “So many more people are dying than recorded and that’s something that never would have happened.”
‘Peace through strength’
Mr Trump has repeatedly said that the Ukraine invasion would not have taken place had he been re-elected in 2020.
He has said that it would have been prevented by his policy of “peace through strength”.
Mr Trump has also said that he could end the current war in “no longer than one day” if he was in the White House.
His latest comment came as Kevin McCarthy, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, declined an invitation to visit President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.
Mr Zelensky said the trip might change Mr McCarthy’s “assumptions” about US military aid to Ukraine.
However, Mr McCarthy said: “I will continue to get my briefings and others, but I don’t have to go to Ukraine or Kyiv to see it.
“And my point has always been, I won’t provide a blank cheque for anything.”
For starters, of course Putin wouldn't have invaded whilst Trump was in office. Why jeopardize having such a useful asset?Mr Trump said it would have been an “at worst” scenario, and would not have happened because Putin would not have dared invade Ukraine at all if he had been in the White House.

You never answered my question in a previous thread, Bodhy.
Which crap do you use to smear the walls with, the first one you take or the second one? I am dying to know.

When communism failed and the USSR fell Russia applied to join NATO. They were LOLed at. Wasn't this a missed opportunity for peace?

The real place we missed our shot at peace was in loan forgiveness. Jeffrey Sachs explains all of this in his talks. He says the IMF and World Bank sandbagged Russia at the behest of the White House and the Pentagon. Poland got some aid and debt relief and look how it is now. The austerity imposed on Russia after the fall of the USSR with no relief along with the plundering of their country and firesale of its resources by oligarchs led to the rise of Putin.
Even after Putin came to power, he wanted to cooperate with the West, but we snubbed Russia at every turn from 2003 onwards. The Bush administration pursued an "America first" policy to the extreme where we never bothered to ask Russia anything. After years of destabilizing the Middle East, jeopardizing Russia's partnerships, pulling out of treaties, and generally completely ignoring ther concerns, Putin became increasingly hostile.
Our regime change in Ukraine was the last straw.
Putin, I think rightly, believes the West is out to break up and destroy Russia because it is the only way to realistically disarm that nuclear juggernaut. They would then slowly integrate Russian nations into NATO piecemeal. Putin's greatest fear is another collapse the way the USSR collapsed.
As we continue to pledge that we wish for a stable world, we are still pushing to disarm and contain peers and expanding our military influence. This is why we have war.

I love how some leftist from NZ, Is telling us what needs to be done.
Also, how would the entire NATO organization fall apart from Russia annexing a small part of Ukraine?

I've long been a critic of Trump's foreign policy and a great example of him being out of his element. Your thoughts?
FWIW, too, I wasn't claiming Trump was a literal puppet in for Putin and they colluded to do devious chit. I'm saying Trump was a useful idiot which Putin wanted in the WH regardless of Trump's knowledge of Putin's geopolitical ambitions. Because Trump, more than anything, is fundamentally polarizing. He foments division and hatred and partisanship.
Putin wants to destroy Western democracy by destabilizing the country along partisan lines and supporting isolationist tendencies in US politics. Trump doesn't need to be in on it. Trump functions just as well being a useful idiot.

Is Trump out of his element? That is a thread and discussion in and of it's own. Briefly, if I am putting together Fire fighter station #8: do you take someone who is an expert at arson or someone who has never put out a fire in their life but seems to want to do it? Trump's rhetoric was in the right direction (sometimes), Vs the usual neo-cons and war mongering scum who are pawns of the MIC? I don't see being experienced as the most important thing here by a long shot, I'll take someone earnest in reigning in our destructive influence and who might want peace even if they were not as seasoned.
Also, to your reframing of Trump being an asset of Putin, disagree with this stance as well, but at least it's your opinion and not a direct statement of insanity as you original presented it. You do that quite often, make a dumb statement, get called on it and then reword it to be less offensive, but whatever, I guess I should just be happy there is one liberal in these forums at least willing to indirectly admit a mistake via goalpost shifting.

It's like these war mongers can't just have a straight up conversation and debate the merits of peace vs conflict on it's own without making up bullchit or theoretical things to justify their desire for blood and war. Just like every time we beat the war drums, it's always Hitler 2.0, Saddam, Ghedaffi, Ali Khamenei, Putin, whoever is in charge in Syria, etc... Hitlers everywhere.
It wouldn't and nowhere in Bodhy's rant did he acknowledge the aggressive foreign policy which assuredly was a factor in Russia's invasion to begin with. Nor does he seem to care about Obama allowing just that years back. Only now does it matter?

A piece of nobody-gives-a-damn Ukraine in exchange fornotcontinuing the most suspicious American proxy war effort since the last one, or the one before that, or the one beforethatat the expense ofourcountryand- whether the warclucks can believe it or not - actual Ukrainian civilians who are watching as their homes and entire nation gets systematically destroyed. Not other European nations, and certainly not Emutopia, which isn't worth acknowledging for most of the planet. Even Kim Jong Un would find himself above bothering with Australia.

I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die
