- yesterday was feeling kinda down in the grocery store over just some everyday life bs

- looked up and seen this kid probably 5 or 6. Was walking in the store with his parents who looked quite frankly like dysfunctional drug addicts . Just looked completely weathered , poor and hurting badly.

- I told myself : damn I feel bad for that kid who has to be raised by likely incompetent parents. But it didn't effect the way I felt about my situation. Its almost like I shrugged it off and said " o well that's no big deal compared to what I'm going thru " when in reality it's a lot worse.

Does anybody know what I mean ?


Like if someone tells you : " my dad died last night " ofcourse you are going to say " sorry to hear that" but you can't actually grasp the emotions that person is experiencing.

its because its human nature. youre always going to be selfish and thats probably how it should be. you can look up adam smiths quote about hypothetical china earthquake to see what i mean.

It's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.

I feel the same way when some ugly loser on here complains about not having a girlfriend.
