Usenet for noobs - help

Finally got around to learning about Usenet to fill in the gaps in my Plex server. So far I'm not worrying about radar and lidarr and just have it hooked up to sonarr, I figure one thing at a time while I learn.

All seems to be working well, except the speed. I'm getting around 0.5-3MB/s. I don't know if I'm being unrealistic but it's not really what I was expecting.

I'm using nzbgeek, newsdemon, and sabnzd. My connection is 300/100, speedtest on the same computer is reporting pretty much that. The connection is wired. I'm writing to internal SSD. I've tried all the ports and playing with the connection numbers.

Totally new to this today, so not quite sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance

haven't used usenet in ages, but the speed can depend on your usenet provider. some have speed caps for lower tier plans. i remember sabnzbd was popular with sickbeard and couch potato.

Usenet is so outdated. Havent used in like 8 years.

Don't know what you are looking to download but I'm basically subbed to Real-Debrid and using it to remote download Torrents. No trace back to your IP. The torrents are download to Real Debrid servers and then you download from them blazing fast.

It is also great with Kodi. Can stream any show or movie in 4K.

Yeah I used to use debrid with Kodi. In this case I'm just using Usenet to fill the gaps in stuff I couldn't get by torrenting though.

I will have to double check if they're was a speed cap when I get home, but 99.9999% sure there was not.

Edit: their customer service has got back to me and confirmed it's not supposed to be that slow, I'll take a look at their advice when I get home and hopefully it'll be sussed

Neither. I chose newsdemon as they said their west coast server is good for Oceania which is where I am

Update: it is about the opposite of sussed. They don't seem to know why after a bit of troubleshooting. But we're still working on it. If they don't know and the own the servers I'm guessing odds are no one here will know either lol

Have you tried forwarding ports on your router that usenet needs?

Try to temporarily put your PC IP address in a DMZ, and see if that helps. Just make sure to take it off after.

I got it sussed. Despite my tweaking with the settings looking like it was getting me absolutely nowhere I did eventually find the sweet spot. Basically there was no problem, I'm just retarded and impatient.
