Elderly couple shot just for driving in FL

LCSO says the incident happened Sunday morning around 4 a.m. when two elderly victims were caught in the middle of a large group at the intersection of Milwaukee Boulevard and Homestead Road.

The victims were on their way to Key West, when a large group of subjects surrounded the truck and boat, not allowing them to cross the intersection.

Without provocation, an unknown person shot one time through the driver's side window striking both victims.




Imagine you and your wife retire, move to FL and begin driving to your vacation destination. You encounter an entire street at 4am over run with urban youths. They don't let you pass, and one of them runs up to the window and shoots you and your wife. You and your wife are now both critically injured. This is America.

Some sad **** right there.

Plenty of people leave for vacation early AM to miss traffic. Me included. When i travel by vehicle somewhere for vacation i usually leave at 7-8pm. No cops typically after 930-10 and you can drive in peace.

Beating the dreaded traffic down to Key West. It's a 4+ hour drive from Key Largo to Key West depending on traffic. They also have a boat and that is normal fishing hours to start the day.

17-year-old Armando Cruz faces 11 charges: attempted murder (two counts), aggravated battery, shooting into an occupied conveyance, discharging a firearm in public, occupied burglary of a boat, juvenile with a firearm, aggravated rioting, possession of a firearm during a felony, & criminal mischief.

According to LCSO, a car club blocked the entire intersection of Milwaukee Boulevard and Homestead Road for a street race. An older couple heading to Key West attempted to drive through the intersection. Several people broke away from the larger group and jumped onto the couple’s truck and the boat it was towing.

A pistol was fired directly into the truck, allegedly by Cruz. Both victims drove away and got medical help.
