I was happy, got my taxes done and mailed yesterday. As always though thought the check I wrote could have been spent better elsewhere.

I try not to owe, but lol at people celebrating or bragging about getting a refund.

They got us so brainwashed and by the balls man.

Our expectations are so low, we celebrate when they give us our money that we worked for that they shouldn’t have touched in the first place.

That is personally offensive.

it's all a scam. it's theft and it needs to be repealed. our government doesn't respect us and they just use our money to fund the New World Order.
Last year between the cost of the accountant and my refund, I owed $1. This year I'm doing it myself online and only because I'm going to school am I getting money back. Otherwise, I was owing $3.
Fuk you

I made a lot last year and owe a lot. Buddy owes like 50k. He's self-employed and banked over a quarter million last year. Brutal.

Well, it is legal so it doesn’t meet the criteria for theft, but the justification for it is still BS. To the point of being a lie.

Lying is rewarded in our society.

It's called claiming 0 exemptions on your taxes. That's how you avoid owing money back in taxes.

That being said, I definitely agree that taxes are way too high, and I also agree that I don't approve of how the government pisses away about half or more of our tax dollars on stupid nonsense.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Just because it's legal, doesn't mean it's right.

We didn't have a federal tax until Woodrow Wilson enacted it back in the 1910s. If I remember right, it was supposed to be temporary, but we all know what happened with that.

Just dropped my package off at my Accountant's yesterday. I'm guessing I'll owe the feds ~$15k and the State ~$8k.

Hopefully it's better than that, but we'll see.

This year I got 8500 back
Last year, 12k back

There’s no getting around it for me
2-3 of my commission checks are huge
Payroll annualized the income of the check and taxes accordingly
When I reconcile at the end of the year, I didn’t make as much as payroll taxed me at

Even on my w4, I listed 8 dependents (I only have 3)

I didn’t say it was right man.

Just that, by definition, it is not theft.

I don’t agree with a majority of large business practices and believe they are predatory in nature.

I do not believe they are “right”, but at the same time, it is not theft.

Maybe that analogy will help bring it home.

I am against the way we use taxes today and believe it should not be done this way. You and I absolutely agree on that.

I am honestly trying to strengthen your argument simply because we are arguing the same side.

I don’t want people on my side making errors lol.

By definition, tax is not theft. That simply is not a valid stance to take.

I mean, die on that hill if you want to. I just advocate against it.

I fuked up and clamed 0 because I planned on selling some investments last year, thinking that would offset the capital gains tax. I didn't end up selling anything and now I'm getting a $4400 return. Feels like a waste.

Pro tip.

You dont technically have to file but they also know who you are. Not like they wont notice it and you will end up paying those taxes at some point. plus some added fees.

Might not be right away but the govt has a long memory so they will get theirs.
