Protests are a far more effective way to change chit than a vote. Your vote can be diluted by morons with no stake in the game, legions of pissed off people and a vague fear that the TPTB's mansions might be overrun and burnt down is eventually what's gonna change things IMO. Also the party that is supposed to fix things more often succumbs to their sponsors that paid the bills rather than the people who did the voting. Relying on politicians to change things seems useless at this point. One thing is for sure is the French have balls. Good to see this.

We could go one step further and zone in on the politicians, making their lives a living hell. I think some Canadians are trying that with Justine the black faced queen. Not sure how effective it is.

You're arguing votes don't matter and to take violent action to change the system lol. This is not good for society. France is a powerful and strong country, not a failed state. It makes no sense to overthrow their government.

The French have a rich history of raising hell when they see their crooked leadership selling them down the river. The French Revolution had a profound effect. Not only did it put an end to the feudal system, it disbanded a kingdom and its monarchy, established civil laws, and unified France as a country and a people.

Yes. And they did that to make the system they have now. It is fine to protest, but votes do matter. The moment people decide not to bother with voting is the moment the violence starts. Votes are what allows the system to evolve without war.

Think about this though, if one in three will live to be a hundred, how then will this be affordable?

I mean, with a police pension for example, I read that if someone stays until the very end, when they're forced out at 63, they usually end up dying a year later.

Now, a Sgt pointed out, and said, "Could you imagine if every city worker who retired, lived to the age of 90?"

Maybe increase it by one year, to 63, and have those to retirement grandfathered? It doesn't look like Macron wants to negotiate. My point is they voted for this. He's shown himself to be tyrannical in the past and now they are finally getting hit with something they care about.
