Any of you leasing vehicles right now?

I’m looking to buy a new truck, but interest rates even with a 790 credit rating are high af. I told the dealership to Fuk off if they think I’m going to pay 7% interest. They said that’s the best rate anyone is going to get right now.

Then they tried to convince me on leasing, but I’ve always seen and heard of leasing as a scam.

Anyone here care to chime in on your experience with leasing? I put between 20k and 30k miles on my daily per year. They said going over the 12k annual mileage only affects my lease if I early terminate. Everything they pitched me on leasing sounds way too good to be true.

But I’m considering it to combat the high interest rates right now.

Dude, they charge you for every mile over the 12k annual limit. If you drive 20-30k per year then leasing is NOT for you. Google this, it's a no brainer.

Over simplification.

A couple of years ago you could get leases with money factors equal to basically 1% interest, plus lease incentives. Cheaper to do that and buy the lease out when it's up.

Now it's all a scam. Buying or leasing. Supplies are low and interest is high. Everyone gets raped regardless.

if you ever go over the miles limit just take it to different car dealership ,so once your Toyota lease is up jump into a Nissan .they love taking competitors cars off the road

I lease my 2021 Ram 1500. I write it off as a business expense. Will prob just buy it at lease end cause the mileage penalty is gonna fuk me

Lease 2 new cars every 2 years. Change the oil once and its time to get a new one. Who wants to fuk around and have to put tires and maintenance into an old ass vehicle. Plus its less than $400 a month to lease a pretty much loaded truck lol. I spend more at the bar every week.

Also, the stuff they said about mileage only hurting if you turn it in early is a lie. It's usually 10 cents a mile over whatever your original lease was for.

had to go to 4 before I found one that didn't try to mess with me

brb just a casual 5k of extras added on to the total that they didn't mention

The dealers give you a thousand dollars of damage waiver when you return the cars. I return broken windshields and busted up spoilers all the time no issue.

Also who the fuk is eating in their car lol.

Also depends how long OP plans to keep the car. If I finance a truck for 56k I'm all in for 70k by the time I own it. Thats 14 years worth of $400 a month lease payments.

You'll get penalized for going over the mileage. If you turn it in after 3 years with 80,000 miles they'll bill you for many thousands of dollars to cover the extra depreciation. Join a credit union. With excellent credit you can shave 2 points off a dealer's loan %. Or shop online for loans and you'll get a better loan than through the dealer. Inventories are building off their lowest in decades and purchases in the coming months will be low compared to most springs and summers, so hold out a bit longer if you can for a purchase.

Are they still trying to sell for thousands over MSRP in 2023? If so, that's not going to last. Focus on the final price more than anything and shop online for loans. Even if you have to buy at 7% now you can refinance in another year or two with a better rate. I know that kind of sucks, but do what ya gotta do. Did they mention you'll probably have to put down at least $5K when you sign the lease? Leases to me have always seemed like something for old people who barely drive, or young people with decent credit but little cash.

I've never put any money down on a lease.
