Competed on Saturday, hit all my lifetime Powerlifting goals in one meet

After bombing out in December, I had to get right back at it. I went directly back into a meet prep and picked a small meet at my home gym because I'm too old to be flying all over the country just to lift weights. This was also my first meet in almost 2 years (if you don't count my bombout in December)

My squat has been my biggest concern, as my strength was surging really well back around October but then I started to level off. I dropped my opener to 765 just to make sure I could hit a total, because my bench and deadlift had been going really well.

Hit 765 pretty easy and went right to 805. Sat in the hole way too long and almost beat my "up" call but I managed to grind it out for my first 800+ squat and a 30lb PR. It was probably a hair too high but I got 2 whites. I passed on my third as I was focused on a big bench and a solid total.

Bench I opened with 650 and smoked it. Went 705 and it was a little bit of a grind at the top but I locked it out for a 100lb PR. They were paying cash to the top lifts and it was going to come down to me or my buddy who came up from Long Island to bench. He went 715 opener and took 730 on his second. I put in 720 for my 3rd hoping he might miss, but he smoked 730 and I decided to pass on my 3rd and save it for the pull. He ended up with a 750 bench and I was 2nd best bench of the day.

Deadlift is my worst lift, and my son was also competing in his first meet. He wanted me there for his 3rd pull, 300lbs at 122 and 15 yrs old. He got that for a 20lb PR. SO I told him if I thought it was there I'd take a shot at 600. So after waiting about 25 minutes between my last warmup and my first pull, I got an easy 530, and then an easy 560 for a 5lb PR. Then I went 600 and pulled it right to lockout, managed to lock my knees and as I was trying to push my hips through I lost the bar. I was literally an inch away from a 2110 total.

Still managed a 2070 total and 165lb PR on a 6/7 day. First time I've ever hit a PR on every lift in the same meet. When I started almost 18 years ago, I said I anted to squat 800, bench 500, and total 2000. The bench came many years ago, so I hit everything that was left. All there is now is a 600 pull and a 10X total, so I'll keep grinding until that happens or until the wheels fall off.

My best raw lifts are in my sig. I have said many many times before that I don't train for raw max lifts as it doesn't benefit geared training to do so, and at this point in my life I'm not going to benefit my joints by pushing for raw numbers. I'm also not going to hop on the sauce which is an absolute necessity to be competitive in raw powerlifting.

Gear is Metal Ace briefs for squat, Inzer predator briefs for deadlift, Inzer Leviathan Ultra Pro squat suit (for both squat and deadlift), 2-ply F8 bench shirt, Inzer 3mm atomic knee wraps, Elitefts 80cm all black wrist wraps.
