Finally confronted my downstairs neighbour about the noise.
TL;DR 30-40 year old single male plays pop music with bass and has parties every 2-3 weeks, I've managed to non-confrontationally reduce his disturbances but today's party is at 6:30am (On Sunday) and I actually went to his door and confronted him. I lectured him in Polish (not my native language), he was apologetic and it spiked up my adrenaline like nuts.
Spoiler!
Some of the adults in this country really disappoint me. I knew Polish people liked their drink but the stereotype is that they don't like treading on other people's toes or that by 30 they're usually focused on getting married and having kids. Nah.
Spoiler!
I saw this guy leave his apartment the other week. Looks to be early 30's. He's been living there for at least a year.
He plays pop music with the bass turned up, I got him to lower the volume by slamming my heavy lifting bags on the floor to get the point across. Initially I was just jumping/stamping on the floor, small brain. The bass is still tuned up to disproportionate amounts but alright.
He has parties every other week, sometimes until 4am. Not usually music, but lots of drinks because they giggle and talk at high volume. Oh and singing too. Sometimes the boys, but occasionally you'll hear a girl. I assume they're all a similar age.
I might catch a few negs but I believe after 30 this kind of behaviour is pretty degenerate, you should have grown out of making a chit tonne of noise in the vicinity of other people who are just trying to relax at home (or sleep!). If you have to party after 30 just do it in the phucking city centre. There are lots of young families here with young kids as it's a new development.
Anyway it'sSunday at 6:30am, I'm waking up anyway as I leave the blinds open and it's daylight. Party is occuring. Camel's back has broken. I go downstairs, bang heavily on the door. The guy opens the door a crack, pokes his head out, is all apologetic and I say things like "What time is it" and "Too much noise" in Polish. Not my native language btw. He apologises again and I walk off full of adrenaline. They're still at it, but lowered volume and hopefully I got the message across for the future.

Talking in person is definitely the way to go, so glad you got it resolved.
I used to play my music loud in college when I lived in this basement, and my upstairs neighbor (lady in her 40s) would stomp up and down.
I heard it but straight up ignored it. After about 6 months she moved out.
Kind of a douche move on my part, as she never really did anything wrong that i recall. Think it was just because that was my early days of living in an apartment and didn’t know the value of being a quiet neighbor.

Drill a hole from your floor through his ceiling, then run a pipe through it and start pumping carbon monoxide. When the deed is done simply patch the hole up and destroy all evidence.

I had the same issue with these ugly irresponsible sloots that moved above my apartment. They just moved in and partied every night and I didn’t sleep all week and it sucked .
I got up Friday morning after getting maybe one hour of sleep, and as I’m leaving for work, I put my stereo on for them .
Seen them in the bar later that evening and these ugly wildebeests were complaining they couldn’t get any sleep during the day lol .
Was awesome being able to get some sleep finally, as they didn’t party that night

Lmao when I was in my early 20's I lived like that guy for years. Once or twice a month has friends over after the bars closed and would listen to music, laugh, sing, etc for hours while getting chit faced and occasionally using other substances. Smoking cigs inside the apartment etc. Roommates were both like 35 and tried talking to me about it and knew I felt bad but could not control my impulses when drunk so I kept doing it and they never gave me the boot. If anything they started doing it too lmao. So much fun sometimes I miss those days
