Manhattan garage worker charged with attempted murder after shooting thief

This is a fukin doozy. Garage worker is shot twice by thief, he then wrestles gun away from thief and shoots him. Garage worker hit with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. WTF is this? Alvin Bragg is the scum of the earth.

A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police and sources said.

The overnight worker, identified by cops as Moussa Diarra, 57, was also hit with assault and criminal possession of a weapon charge in the Saturday incident, which unfolded around 5:30 a.m. as the attendant saw a man peering into cars on the second floor of the West 31st Street garage, the sources said.

Believing the man was stealing, the attendant brought him outside and asked what was inside his bag.

Instead of cooperating, the man pulled out a gun, the sources said.

Diarra tried to grab for the weapon, and it went off — leaving him shot in the stomach and grazed in the ear by a bullet before he turned the firearm on the would-be thief and shot him in the chest, sources said.

The suspected thief, identified as Charles Rhodie, 59, was also charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, as well as burglary, police said late Saturday.

The charges against Diarra sparked outrage — and recalled the case of Manhattan bodega clerk Jose Alba, who was charged with murder after a fatal July 1 confrontation in his store with an angry customer who came behind his counter and accosted him.

Family friend Mariame Diarra, who is not related to the attendant, slammed the decision to hit the married dad of two with charges.

“That’s self-defense. The guy tried to rob his business. Why DA want to charge him with attempted murder?” she told The Post. “He’s there for security. That’s literally his job, to defend his business. … He takes his job seriously. … Attempted murder charge has no place there. He [robber] came to find him at his job with his gun, he [Diarra] has to defend himself.”

An individual who works nearby the garage, which is across from Moynihan Train Station, was also incredulous.

“You are kidding. That’s an April fool day joke, right?” they asked of the charges against Diarra, adding, “How can a hardworking man get arrested for defending himself?”

Alba spent six days in Rikers before Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg dropped the controversial murder charge amid intense public pressure to do so.

One cop who heard of the attempted murder charge against the parking garage worker snarled, “People like Alvin Bragg have made this city unsafe and this worker is a victim defending himself.”

The accused thief would have been better off if he stuck to stealing, another officer quipped.

“The ironic thing is if he would have just robbed the garage and got caught, Bragg would have let him go, but now he wants to charge both of them,” the officer said.

Moussa and Rhodie, who both live in Manhattan, were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition after the incident, authorities said.

Speaking of Soros and Bragg, have you seen how hard the media is working to "fact check" whether Soros backed Bragg's election campaign?

Soros donated something like $4m to Color of Change PAC, who then donated $500k to Bragg to get elected.

But now media is trying to claim Soros had nothing to do with getting Bragg elected, and if you even mention it (like Trump and DeSantis both have this week), then you are anti-semitic.

This isn't even the first time Bragg has done this, true scum of the earth going after political opponents and people who defend themselves against criminals instead of actual criminals.

He charged an elderly worker for killing someone who attacked him at his store:

Yep Jose Alba. I remember that. We had a thread on it. It's also mentioned in the article above.

Where has common sense gone in New York?

There is no way that a majority of people living in NY are okay with that.

This happened yesterday?

Makes sense to charge them both and hopefully figure it out on Monday.

The Dems are trying to pretend Bragg acted on his own, can't have their biggest donor tied directly to their prosecutorial witch hunts. Truly disgusting people

We know Bragg was funded by him a long with dozens of pro crime DA's the demons prop up:

U wot? He acted in self-defense. He was fighting for life, already shot twice. What is wrong with you?

If it isn't bad enough to get charged with attempted murder, the criminal possession of a weapon charge is just the cherry on top. It wasn't even his gun.

Yeah, media went into overdrive trying to defend him.

What's funny is these same media outlets who previously reported on Soros funding all these DAs, are now calling it anti-semitism if you mention his name.

Maybe someone should try to murder the DA and see if he just lets them. And the cops should just... look the other way. "Defund the police" crowd and all.

Do you know all of that is true? All I know is the nypost article.

2 men appear shot and the details seem a bit fuzzy since it happened yesterday. I think they are both going to the hospital so I would charge both and wait a day or two for the facts. I bet the scene was unclear on exactly what happened and the da doesnt want to let a bad guy go by accident. If it really is as cut and dry of self defense, then sure let the dude go.

The article says a garage attendant saw a guy peering in windows of cars, which to my knowledge is not illegal. Then the attendant "asks" what's in the bag and the guy "pulls" a gun. At this point we probably have two different versions where the guy probably says the attendant tried to take his bag and he pulled his gun in defense. Attendant reaches for mans gun. Which so far we don't know the man committed a crime. Reaching for a gun is always a bad idea.

Waiting a day or two to get the facts right seems like the play.

Democrats are tougher on vigilantes than they are on actual criminals, of course the party that wants to disarm you opposes self defense.

Do garage attendants have the right to look through your bag?

Common sense says guy with gun was up to no good. That's why you call police before the shooting, somebody else's car isn't worth getting shot over. Now we're in gray area about who did what and bullet wounds.

Call police just because a man was peering into cars ... and what happens if police come, find out the guy didn't steal anything, and then everyone goes after the garage attendant for wasting law enforcement's time

The bad guy pulled out a gun and fired it because garage worker wanted to know if he stole something. Bad guy wasn't justified in firing the gun in this situation

I've called the police a bunch and never had them say I wasted their time. They tell us to call more because the more calls they get in an area the more patrols there are. Dunno if NYC works that way. Every cop that came to my calls had been happy we called.

If he did call police, there likely wouldn't have been a shooting.
