Studies show that female lions are more attracted to male lions with darker manes

The scientists are saying It's because the male lions with darker manes have higher testosterone and are more dominant/aggressive.

For some species lighter fur is a sign of the genes being washed away or weak. As with everything else, humans work on an opposite scale. Weaker genes in humans show up as darker features.
