Stephen Hawking: “People who boast about their I.Q. are losers.”
Did you know that IQ test were a part of job interviews before the tests were banned for employers to use?
I would agree with many in the field of study who say that intelligence is not yet completely understood and far too complex to boil down to a single number.

I would argue that dedicating your life to the pursuit of material wealth and fleeting decadence is downright foolish

As far as IQ itself goes, all it measures is raw number crunching ability, not actual intelligence. Wincel for example has high IQ but is a complete idiot.
Actual intelligence is extremely important for socioeconomic success. But pure dumb luck is far more important, the most specific example is how well off your parents are.

How well off your parents are usually plays a role in your IQ I think, which is luck. But there are definitely other factors to consider in terms of success than IQ

Studies have also found that higher IQ is associated with more mental illness, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder

A lot of standard testing involves a lot of value on recalling trivial knowledge. I remember one of the questions on the HS exit exam was where was Abe Lincoln born and what date was his birthday, what date did the battle of Gettysburg begin, George Washington's birthday and the name of his house.... that is completely irrelevant information. In reality, the ability to utilize resources to gather information is a much more valuable skill, and the ability to process information is even more relevant. To be able to take the information you process and create solutions and solve problems is significant.

SAT, GRE, ASVAB for military, etc traditionally weren't and aren't trivia tests. They mostly test vocab and math

back in the day it must've been easy to be a serial killer. No dna, cameras, cell phones, etc
As long as you didn't get witnessed doing a crime or caught with evidence you'd get away with it
