Would you job hop in this economy?

Getting burnt out from my job.

Would you hop, or stay put in the current economy?

Me personally, I'm in a job I don't care for, but I can't move now. Literally every Fortune 500 player in my field is on hiring freeze.

Maybe I could find something at a smaller place or a govt contractor, but job hunting is really tight right now. So I'm just hunkering down where I'm at.

If it's in the same industry I don't see why not. Could simply interview and get an offer, give a two weeks notice and say your goodbyes.

I did this last year after being inspired from Top Gun: Maverick. Got an offer, said my goodbyes, then my current employer gave me a better counter (better job, 30% more pay).

I've heard about the hiring freeze.

I wouldn't quit without having something else lined up but i'd also be fearful of being the first to be let go if the recession gets bad.

I'll probably stay put for the time being, but my office has become unbearable.

Last year, job opportunities were still lucrative. This climate is different - would you do the same now?

What job boyo. Timing isn't great imo. New guy during a recession would probably get axed first

I guess I didn't notice a major shift in the job climate in a year's time, but it's probably because I've been in the same company for years now.

I would say, if it's shifted as much as you've stated... I don't know for sure unless the Company B is fairly high up in the S&P 500 for example.

I'm aware of both layoffs and upcoming hiring freezes at my company, as well as shifting to outsourcing from other countries. So I think what you're saying makes sense.
