Fat Tax

In Japan, you are taxed for being fat as it strains the public healthcare system.

Japan is a very physically fit society and there is a mutual trust between the people and government.

The government genuinely cares about their health and does this to keep the nation healthy and healthcare system efficient.

What do you think would be the reaction of the US public to something like that? Like if someone brought a bill to vote.

Do you think people would outrage and call it fascist, or would they have a positive response?

I'm asking you guys as fellow physically fit people who care about their health.

I would rather live in the USA, especially the South, but I want a better nation for Americans

We have to do something about the health issues, maybe it is just a symptom of a deeper issue

I thought the sumo guys were like elite level status and they big ones are getting taxed?

Already pay more for food, clothes, I typically have to buy big and tall furniture or I will just destroy it

Sumo wrestlers are professional athletes though, they are like WWE, Japanese people in general do a ton of walking and are very fit.

They also eat smaller portions of food like with sushi and stuff, but they could definitely eat more, they just don't.

I just mean being at a healthy weight, let alone being strong, I think the USA has more bodybuilders.

Point being though, they want to put a tax that will specifically hit the super heavy weight sumo wrestlers who are like not just pro athletes but sumo I believe has a special place in their culture separate from other athletes.

Yeah things are very different, don't recall ever seeing someone from Japan in powerlifting or strongman
